Mel Gibson wasn't as bad and Kanye and he was blackballed for several years and never really recovered.

Does he still make music or has he reached some "famous for being famous" level of his career?

People who say Kanye is "crazy talented" have shiat taste in music.  He's a hack.  It's glorified elevator music, he just keeps releasing the same album over and over.

Badmoodman: Kanye West is gone, and he's never coming back

Never say never, especially when it comes to celebrity.

Counter-point: he's a Nazi. It's exceedingly unlikely that any label would touch him with a 10 meter pole, apart from any labels already contractually obligated to sell his music.

Every famous celebrity who wants to maintain a successful career has a list of people that they will not associate with, be it music/film creatively, financially or socially.

Kanye West's name was added to a lot of those lists this week.*

*His name was probably on a lot of those lists already because of his "Kiss Orange Ass at TFG Tower" stunt back in 2016.

Early Kanye music is undeniably... I'll say good. If people wanted to make an argument for revolutionary I'd listen (but I don't know enough about rap).

Current kanye will make me take his songs off my running playlist.

I like plenty of hippity hoppity music but I never got Kanye. Nicki Minaj took no prisoners on one of his songs which I thoroughly enjoyed. But that's really all I've enjoyed of his music. I want to say he was hyped so much that everyone kind of agreed it was groundbreaking stuff. But I don't know, I like plenty of stuff that would baffle other people too.

I guess what I'm saying is, people will pull him out of their playlists and find out they don't miss his music that much.

Whoops, my bad. Actually James West invented the condenser microphone (probably the one "Ye" uses). Johann Philipp Reis probably invented the first microphone.

Lol. Shure makes some great mikes. It's almost like there's a shiatload of conflicting info out there. My latest Google search says a guy named EC Wente invented the condenser
mic in 1916. Anyway, I think I can say with confidence that it wasn't farking Hitler.

The real Kanye is locked in Tucker Carlson's basement, and the cabal has unleashed a campaign to destroy his credibility.  The fact you couldn't see his face on Alex Jones should've tipped it off.

Not white-knighting Ye (I'm ambivalent about his music; my tastes when it comes to rap are Run DMC & LL Cool J), but magnetic tape recording did come out of pre-Nazi Germany in 1928.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnetic_tape#Audio

I'm willing to believe he got mixed up there and his ego won't let him admit he's wrong.

He's still a dangerous mix of celebrity and conspiracy theory that needs serious psychiatric help.

A-list recovered, or acting recovered? Because he is busting out as many garbage movies as any normal C tier actor/director does, and still gets invited to cool Hollywood parties.

And yet, the last time I got mixed up about when something German was invented, and was too proud to admit I was wrong, I still didn't turn into a Nazi. I guess I just got lucky.

[live.staticflickr.com image 221x240]

Early Kanye music is undeniably... I'll say good. If people wanted to make an argument for revolutionary I'd listen (but I don't know enough about rap).

Ye is one of those artists that, even if you only know his singles, you kinda sit back when you look at the ones you know and say ... "Yeah, I liked that one ... yeah, I liked that one, too ... " and so on.

(Before I go into this list, I want to qualify that I've cleared Ye's music off my computer, Nazis and anti-Semitism are bad and don't interpret me saying Ye's music was enjoyable before we all knew he was a hateful arse as saying he's in any way right with all his current hateful-arse rhetoric.)

• I liked The New Workout Plan. It was cheeky & fun. The music video was cool, especially Fonzworth Bentley's part ('memba him?).

• Jesus Walks is an interesting track for what it says.

• Gold Digger was all over the radio for a reason. It was also catchy, cheeky & fun.

• Touch The Sky was a cool take on Move On Up.

• Stronger was all over the radio for a reason, though it had as much to do with Daft Punk being awesome as Ye's verses.

• Flashing Lights was catchy.

• Of all the songs of Ye's that make me wish he wasn't such an idiot so I could feel good about still playing them, Homecoming is #1. It's the best song about Chicago that's not associated with Frank Sinatra or The Blues Brothers, which means it was the one song about Chicago that could actually connect with people under 35. I do some work where I play music at venues in Chicago that have a lot of parents and kids at them. If I wanted to play a song about the city that didn't feel overly pandering because it didn't fit the other young-person music I was playing, that was it. I hate that Ye had to mess that up.

• Love Lockdown was catchy and had a good beat.

• Heartless was very listenable.

• Power was all over the radio for a reason.

• All Of The Lights stuck in your head and had a good beat.

• Paris with Jay-Z (can't say the full name of the track) was weird and funky and right in both artists' wheelhouse.

That spans 2004-11. That's a heck of an eight-year run. Dude was a hip-hop force.

But yeah. All those tracks ... all gone now. You had to go be a Nazi, dude. Your music was good, but it's not good enough to overcome that.

I'd never heard of him until he took the microphone from Taylor Swift at that awards show. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Then a couple of years later he was the mumble rapper ruining E.T. by Katy Perry. (There's a reason there's a version on YT without him).

I grew up listening to rap, RnB, etc. I will never understand this guy being popular. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
