Subby, I had to vote Republican. The price of milk went up by a quarter and it's all Joe Biden's fault... for some reason.

Seems like they're hazy on correlation and causation, too.

Getting "red waves" in local races that are so gerrymandered, culturally or otherwise, that a red wave was the only feasible result is not the same thing as an electoral mandate.

That will definitely lead to further electoral defeats. That's great, but it feels weird to be too happy about it, because it will lead to suffering and death before that happens.

Sure, that plan might help you in some states. But in other states, and at the federal level...lol.

This is like Item 8,500 on the list of things that should have sunk the GOP, if a sizable percentage of humans weren't such easily-led dipshiats.

Abortion will continue to be a huge issue, and I hope it's enough to save democracy.

I fondly remember in the weeks leading up in the midterms all these pundits that said that "abortion had faded" as an issue, as if women would forget about their own bodies. Such tripe from stupid men.

They've spent 60 years painting themselves into a  corner.  Nixon made white grievance politics the bedrock of the party, and if they abandon it they will wither and die as fast as the Whigs in the mid-1850s.

Oh absolutely. But their voter suppression efforts aren't helping in states they're already losing. You should know, they've tried. How are their voter suppression efforts going in NJ?

It would only mean something if they had any meaningful opposition. Pelosi and leadership went down to Texas to save a anti-choice candidate by only 300 voters even though he was also being investigated fro selling out his country to a foreign power.
Biden didn't understand why his wealthy female voters were upset after Roe was overturned. He just wanted them to push more talking points on the Tik Tok.

It isn't going to matter, The Dems had 50 year to do something. What they did was ask for money every election.

These politicians (and the GOP generally) are horrible people and their policies are despicable, but I have no problem with this in a purely structural sense.

Local politicians have a responsibility to their constituents, not to the rest of the country or the national level party.

The fact that these horrible local politics are making the national GOP implode?  Added bonus.

I said "their states" meaning Republican ones, but the main concern is them using the majority of states they control to get Senate control and choose the electors to pick the president for 2024.

With some more philandering, the Republicans could gain control of the Federal government and use the supremacy clause to implement all the Christofascist theocratic laws they dreamed of making all 50 states follow, with the Supreme Court on their side.

"Some states" = "their states". I didn't really see any confusion there. Thing is, as much as they wish, the harder they go right, they're not gonna get control of the Senate. They might get 50 votes, but not more than that.

You're underestimating random people. If it was possible for Republicans to get control and implement a theocracy, they would have already done it. I keep making this point. Something like 75% of this country is Christian. If they all agreed with Republicans, we'd already be in a theocracy. The harder they try, the more voters they lose. SCOTUS is very much a problem, but that can be fixed later. For now, boosting House/Senate numbers is far more important.

You just want to browbeat people for their lack of fealty to the Democratic Party. You are not "here to help", just here to demand conformity of thought and actions.
