who will play GG I wonder?

also article has a mistake

"Åkerlund is a music video director who has worked with artists ranging from Ozzy Osbourne and Smashing Pumpkins to Lady Gaga and Maroon 5. His narrative feature debut, Lords of Chaos"

LoC
wasn't his narrative feature debut, he directed Spun (the fun but messy ensemble meth movie with Leguizamo, Mickey Rourke, Brittany Murphy, etc)

Photoshop Allin's name and face on there, and you've got your movie poster.

Evidence GG Allin made anything resembling music: zero.

So again: the feces or the rape?

I felt like the "sloppiness" of spun was intentional, it felt like dealing with a methhead

GG Allin is the patron saint of 40-year old men who still think they're scaring their mom's boyfriend.

We know, Scott's not the boss of you.

Just watch the episode of Jerry Springer he was on.  That's all you need to know.

The whole spectacle at the time, 30 years ago, was kinda fascinating for young punkers like myself. I don't think anybody ever took him seriously except mainstream media.

there are just so many talented punk musicians out there--transgressive ones even!--theres no valid reason to waste your time on trash like GG Allin. it just shows an extreme lack of taste and critical listening skills...missing the forest for the trees as it were.

This isn't going to be a documentary. Also, there already is one, and a companion piece following up on Allin's brother and mother. They're actually pretty good, especially the companion piece, actually.

Actually early on he made some fairly serviceable rock music. The lyrics were dirty, but no more really than what Blowfly was putting out.

CSB: We hosted several anarchists at a party in 1993, right after gg Allin died.  I was making out with a very "dirty-cute" one when she revealed that she'd "OD'd on the same shiat that killed GG!" Like, she was proud of that.  Needless to say I continued to hit that excused myself and did the most thorough cleanse of my life, then ditched the party to avoid any further entanglements.

That dude was down to kill himself from day one, and the people who followed his "music" were death-obsessed loons who attended his shows in hopes of being there when he died.  Shiattiest excuse for "punk" there ever was, and I never considered him either punk or a musician.

Guy had one f*cked-up upbringing; I don't know if it's enough to base a biopic on.  But hey, Freddie Mercury got his 15 minutes.

my, what a touchy bunch of snowflakes you all are today. I'm no big fan of GG, but I'm not going to have a fit because someone decided to make another documentary about him. he's long dead, guys, he can't throw his shiat at you from the grave

I still have the 'Hated' DVD with the temporary tattoos that came with it still intact.  A tweaker I knew let me borrow it and then tweaker things happened and now it's 15 years later and it's mine ha.

I watched it with my little bro who was like 20 at the time and I don't think he's looked at me the same since lol.

TappingTheVein: 1979: the music maaaaan

He wasn't a musician, genius, or even an artist. He represented the nadir of the punk scene and posessed all the stupidity of Sid Vicious combined with the attention whoring of Jello Biafria. In short, he was a low-rent side show attraction and the only purpose his life (and entirely predictable death) serves is as a cautionary tale. Anyone who venerates him is delusional.

Nearly all, but not exclusively, dirty. I think there's an element of "we need at least *something* they can play on the radio" here.

The self righteous hipster nerds are doing their best to virtue signal on this one but allow me to retort:

The music and art ARE valid human expressions of a man named Jesus Christ Allin by his father, who was on an insane religious delusion. As he was a child, he endured abuse you cannot even begin to fathom in a cabin in New England - without running water and power I believe. His mother eventually escaped with the kids... but the damage was done.

In other societies something might have been done to help the Allins - but this being America, degens we're destined to crystallize into their most degenerate forms.

He was a post-traumatic druggie nutjob. As American as apple pie, the mutant refuse of a dying empire.

Nobody is advocating him as a role model. But his expression is as valid as anyone else's.

I really don't want to give this guy any more attention, but I have one story about GG Allin. Not sure if CSB...

Back in the 80s, San Jose punk band Stikky put out a zine called "Broccoli Makes Me Sad". Somehow the band managed to get an interview with GG for their zine (maybe he has a publicist?) As usual for these guys, they proceeded to troll him with the most moronic interview questions they could think up. Here's about what I remember:

"How much an influence has Earnest Borgnine had on your musical career?"
(his answer " about as much as that farking question.")

"What would you do if you saw a little girl sitting in a tree?
(Answer: "I'd try to pull her down and rape her.")

Punk rock icon folks!
