I just watched this movie last week.  I've seen it countless times, but always the bawlderized TV version on TBS, TNT, USA, etc.  The rental car counter scene was absolutely fantastic.

/Apparently the raw cut of the film was 4 hours long, and they whittled it down expertly to the movie we have now.

In addition, if you wear it with the opening at the back, it looks more like you're wearing an Elizabethan ruff and less like a toilet seat.

An 80s classic for sure....and it has to be the best Thanksgiving movie of all time.

'Travel pillow' is a rather odd term for the shoulder of the person next to you on the plane

Dunno. I only just learned about it 20 seconds ago.

It makes complete sense actually. Of course the thick part shouldn't be behind your neck, but, I guess I looked at everyone doing it wrong as well.

I have travelled a lot in the last 30 years. Its funny, i have *never* seen anyone use the pillow correctly. Everyone wears it like an ox yoke.

I also find that people who travel a lot for work don't drag those things around.  Mostly I see them around the necks of moms heading to Disney (or wherever) and their tween kids' necks.

If I want to sleep on an airplane, I just clean out a luggage bin and crawl in with the pillow. Passengers don't like it when they see their luggage all strewn on the ground, but fark them. I paid for my ticket.

"Correctly" is a pretty bold claim when every single photo, sketch, drawing, etc., including on the package, shows the"wrong" way.

It might work better, but not a single one of those pillows is intentionally designed to be worn on the front of your neck.

Izunbacol: bawlderized

Edie McClurg was great.

Minor clarification: 'bowdlerized'. It was named for Thomas Bowdler, who took it upon himself to edit Shakespeare's works to make them family-friendly.

It depends on what kind of pillow, and what you want it to accomplish.

If it's the ones with the really high sides, you're just going to end up with it in your face and get smothered. If it's the lower ones, maybe it'll go under your chin, but it seems like it would have enough slack so that it just hangs down in front of you.

I never really found these things to be very comfortable.

It's like someone said, "fark it, I'm done with the world" and invented a pillow around that concept.

I have an inflatable one that can be stored in its own drawstring bag about the size of a 16oz can of veggies. It's used only for transoceanic trips but it's pretty handy.

It also has a small air pump built in (like the kind in sneakers) so I don't need to inflate it with my mouth.

Oh, I should have been using the shoulder? That probably explains why I get slapped so often.

One of my top pet peeves traveling is seeing that idiot that walks through the airport with their stupid travel pillows hanging around their necks. Why not keep it in a bag, carry on, shopping bag. Watching some clueless couple claiming their baggage wearing their travel pillows made me what to push them in front of a moving train.

Travel pillows are tourists' way of saying "it's going to take me farking forever to get my stupid roller bag out of the overhead compartment."
