Calm down, everyone. That is an illustration of what it could look like. The Lamborghini Urus looks weird in pictures but looks amazing in real life. Maybe the Corvette SUV will have the same luck.

"Hey, remember when sports car brands/lines used to be exciting? Remember when not every car was an SUV or a crossover? Man, that farking sucking sucked!" - All car makers for the last 20 years, probably.

It's true, this is just a rendering (concept). But it's so finely detailed, it makes me think it's been developed to a level where they're ready to release images and will likely be something fairly close to the image in the article.

This is assuming the rendering came from the actual company, and it's not just fan art like we often see

In that context, what is the point of fan art? A picture of a dog would be just as accurate.

I don't care what it looks like.  If it has more than 2 doors, it's not a god damn Corvette.  My experience owning a Chevy EV already has me utterly disgusted with GM, but this is farking blasphemy.

It's an SUV, a "practical" everyday car, but you don't risk people thinking you're some kind of poor.

Ever since the Cayenne, this concept has been selling like hotcakes.

They chose a different but equally asinine approach.

The have a concept electric Challenger. It looks cool, the specs are good, but they spent a TON of dough making it make a loud noise because "hurrrr drivers like exhaust notes durrrr".

I mean I was ready to sign on the dotted line for a quiet electric muscle car and then I found this absolute GARBAGE

At least the rendering doesn't try to hide its SUVness with a sports car painted on the side like some other blasphemous nameplate prostitution that needs to be fixed or repaired daily.

That is absolutely hilarious, thank you for sharing.
Because nothing says raw power and emotion like an artificially generated noise that has nothing to do with what's happening inside a machine.
I also like how it says they put in a transmission because "manly muscle car, gotta shift them gears".

This is probably all going to get eliminated once it moves out of the concept stage.
But then it's going to look like any other Tesla derivate.
So it's going to sell like crazy is what I'm saying.

Junk.  I would expect a luxury German engineered car to have a driveshaft that didn't break at 60,000 miles.

That was one of my WTH moments when visiting the us for the first time in 8 years a few months ago... seeing Mustang SUVs on the freeway (along with infinite teslas)

Also, a trend of cars painted... i dunno what to call it... "glossy primer color"? It looked weird to me, but it was everywhere.

FTA: A source inside General Motors told us that Chevrolet, after years of hesitation, is finally following many other sports-car makers by expanding its legendary Corvette sports-car brand to encompass vehicles beyond two-seaters. The company is in the midst of creating a new performance-based EV subbrand that will include an SUV as well as a four-door sedan.

yuthinasia: A high revving electric motor? Tell me you don't know what an electric motor is without telling you don't know what an electric motor is...

Electric motors do rotate. There are also specialized EV motors that rotate even faster (e.g., the ones in the Tesla Model S Plaid that go to 20k RPM). We are used to hearing "revving" as something to do when you're at a light and the clutch pedal is depressed, but it does pertain to electric motors too.

Hey car companies.... if you are having trouble finding different names for different cars, I will gladly do it for you for $100,000/year (plus benefits) from the comfort of my home. You don't need to keep re-using the same names!

The Urus?  In real life?  I've seen exactly one, but it looked like someone built a scale model of a civic hatchback but accidentally made it 30% larger instead of smaller.

Which isn't the worst or anything, but "amazing" it was not.

Probably 10k or so, which is racing specs for an ICEr.

I was a bit surprised that Tesla switched to modified Plaid motors for the Semi. The original spec was for four Model 3 motors.

I give Ford credit on the Mustang Mach-e.  Everyone laughed at them for naming a lifted hatchback a "Mustang," but they stuck to their guns, and it worked.  Chevy has no idea what it is doing, is years behind every other company, and that thing is just fugly. It almost looks like it has a smaller trunk/hatch than a real Corvette.

Define "worked"? Because it's an incredibly dumb looking car.
