It's ok, if anyone wants a semi racist ride, they are moving Mr. Toad's wild ride to the Hall of Presidents, calling it the January 6th experience.

Song of the South has some great animation and music.
Have an editor re-cut it into a nice movie ... assuming that is possible.

I'd rather see a Jordan Peele reboot.

I remember it being in Wonderful World of Disney (ironically on NBC) but I don't remember any details of it besides what I catch in recent clips.

Here's the thing. Whatever the content is, Song of the South is an almost 80 year old movie no one except "Why won't they release it?!" weirdos cares about. Replacing it with a more contemporary movie makes all the sense in the world

I'm sure I saw it on a rerelase too, but it would have had to be when I was 5. So it's surprising I remember seeing it

The stupid ride kept it in everyone's consciousness way, WAY past that point.

/honestly, I wish they kept calling it Splash Mountain, but changed the characters/songs inside
//this new name is an awkward mouth full

Idk how old you are, but Disney re-released it at the height of the civil rights movement, because reasons.

I should also mention that Splash Mountain would probably be my favorite ride of all time except I hate the getting wet part. As it is it's still pretty great, but also I won't cry if it's updated

That was the last time it came out of the vault. If Disney had followed their normal protocol, the next time would have been 1994-1995 and the backlash was already bad enough they pulled all the VHS tapes offline.

It's been a while since I've seen it, but I do remember it is a horrible adaptation of the tales.

Still waiting for the North Avenue Irregulars ride / themed area. Gangsters, hookers, men without pants gambling in what looks like a Village People casting call. Seventies Disney is Best Disney.

The "tales?" The Uncle Remus stories written by Joel Harris?

The movie's pretty good. The villain song is one of the absolute best in all of Disney history.

Joel Harris collected them, he didn't write them. They're Afro-American folk tales.

You know it's going to be full of offensive stereotypes too.

I'm begrudgingly at Disney this week, so I'll get the chance to see it in all it's original glory before the wokelords fark it up.

But honestly, it's long past due.  It also makes much more sense to tie it to Princess and the Frog.

It's pretty much the same ride except at the end when, instead of Mr. Toad, it's the country that goes to hell.

CSB time: I saw SOTS during its 1972 re-release when I was 7. It was an unusual experience for me because it was the only time my mom took me to see a movie rather than my dad. I also remember my mom commenting after the movie about what an idiot the boy Johnny was and how the actor who played him (Bobby Driscoll) had later died of a drug overdose. In retrospect, this was likely the first time my mom had seen the movie too because I don't think she would've taken me to see it if she had seen it before.

Perhaps they are moving to more of a horror ride experience.
