Damn that's a bad contact from a bad team for a 35 year old who gets hurt a lot.

Is the hangar more of a hitters park or pitchers park, I honestly don't know...?

It's a pitchers park to the point where their hitters have complained.  But still, hard throwers don't age well and he's already breaking down.  The last couple years of this deal are gonna make Barry Zito look like a bargain.

Yep. The ownership has decided to try the early 2000s method of bringing in big stars and putting in nothing around them. We'll watch the team win 75 games again and we'll like it!

In a few years they'll trade for a bunch of prospects instead and be hailed as geniuses.

/ still salty about 2011

as much as the mets really needed to keep him for PR reasons, they knew paying him what he was worth was going to be asking for trouble on the field

he may be the best pitcher in baseball when he is out there, but you basically have to plan on him missing at least a 1/3 of the season and managing his load to have him 100% for the playoffs (if the rangers even make it)

this contract is not going to age well.  i'd say the rangers should get some sort of insurance in case he goes out for an extended period, but no way that'll be cheap either

This is what a lot of fanbases clamor for. Spend big even if it's ultimately detrimental to the team

This is what happens when you try to microwave your rebuild instead of being patient and using the oven.

Enjoy your 15 starts a year Texas, if you're lucky.  You're probably paying $3M a start.

As a Mets fan I wanted him to stay of course, but not for that money and with his injury history.

Of course knowing the Mets he'll go 20-0 with an ERA of -100 next year.

Not so sure about that. They dumped Thor and he never came back to top form, he even moved again after going to the Angels.

I love the Mets, I love DeGrom, but this was the outcome everyone knew was coming. His injury chance is so high because he is the godly pitcher he is. He might be the best ever to throw a ball, but at the same time, he's been so injured and missed so many games that I doubt he even makes the HoF at the end of his career. He also had a late start too to boot.

2020 doesn't really count, there were only 60 games.  most he would've reasonably got as was 13
