They sell Klan hoods at estate auctions here. What do you think?

My xmas lights are already up and we've been getting off and on snow flurries all week, so by the time the jolly fat man visits our chimney the snow will be long gone or I will already be sick of it.

Idaho?

well, a snow-covered christmas would be nice. other than that, I'd be happy with not dealing with snow for the rest of the winter. I like rain. don't need to shovel rain.

2022-12-02 6:31:04 PM
No. But I'll set the over/under for hottest temp at 84

2022-12-02 6:32:39 PM
Yes (where I live).  But I'll be in North Carolina, so it won't hit me.

2022-12-02 6:33:02 PM
Maybe 30 miles to the north.

Looks at the saguaro outside - Probably not.

Given I live in Australia, I would normally make some snarky comment about being so Northern Hemisphere centric...

But I'm currently preparing for my Antarctica trip, so I'm pretty much guaranteed to be at least on snow for Christmas and New Year's.

//Not completely joking about that

cwheelie: Idaho?

Third base!

2022-12-02 6:37:53 PM
Nope.  I think it has snowed here twice in the last 40 years. And those were flukes where the snow melted within 30 minutes of falling.  I'm near the coast somewhere on this map.

But in the San Gabriel Mountains, there should be snow.

/that's the 30 miles to the north of me

Hell no, not on SF Bay

2022-12-02 6:41:35 PM
Better than average maybe, but still not all that good. Yesterday it snowed hard enough to stick for a while, so there's that.

What's this "good chance" crap, subby?

This was LAST farkING MONTH, at a convenience store I fill a newspaper rack at. It hasn't gone away:

Yep, but there's also a chance it could be 55°.
Pittsburgh -- where we sometimes get all four seasons in a 24 hour period.

I've only ever seen it snow in Huntington Beach once in all the years I've been here. Was melted by the time the sun came up.

So, no.

Actually had something like that happen when I was young and naive. Got flagged down by a couple women on a bitterly cold stormy day. First question was "Do you date?"
I said "No, but it's too cold to be out working dressed like that. I can drop you off somewhere warm. Where to?"
They said "East Precinct. You're a nice boy."

Yes, they were undercover cops. No, I didn't get arrested or have my car towed.
Drunkards, fools, and little children....

Not here in Portsmouth, NH, looks like.  But just around the corner is the Strawbery Banke Candlelight Stroll.  Took the dogs for a walk over there tonight.  We don't go on vacations - people come to vacation here.

There's a 5% chance I'll need to own a snow shovel or see a pickup truck with a snow plow front end.

Only in my pants. Christmas is coming.

2022-12-02 7:29:14 PM
While Seattle and Portland will have a near-normal to higher-than-normal chance for a white Christmas, the ocean water will produce milder conditions that will support rain instead of snow along the immediate West Coast.

While that's a possibility further into the month, it's been snowing here for the last few days. Seriously, November 30th was white, December 1st had some snowfall, today has had minor flurries...

2022-12-02 7:31:39 PM
I live in a red state, so it's white all year round.

We have a foot of fluffy snow and it's been below zero, so it's like a normal winter.   currently....18 degrees and light wind.  Yay.

One of my life goals is to live somewhere that will finally give me a white Christmas. Even when I lived in AK, I always came home for Xmas, so still haven't had one.

One of the ominous things about the weather is how it's changed over my life.
October and November used to be Storm Season.. Now not as much.
We used to have snow, even if it was just a dusting, in November. Now if we get any it's late December to January.

This is ... not perfect.

i farkin' hope not, i live in the southern hemisphere, that would be a really bad sign.

E_Henry_Thripshaws_Disease: Hell no, not on SF Bay

Not at sea level, yeah, but there's always the chance the Diablo Range (Mt. Diablo, Hamilton, etc.) and Mt. Tam. will get snow. Of course, access to those peaks is always closed off once there's even a light dusting so there's no chance of even getting up there to play in the snow. Still, kinda nice to look up and see snow on the hills.

Cocaine use and skiing I imagined as bipartisan for a second.

2010? I feel like there was a lot of snow 3 winters in a row from 2009 - 2011. I was thinking it was '10 we got the snow on Christmas.

My older kid was 3 at the time and he just came to accept we got snow all the time. And really the only time in the last 10 years was Feb of '21 (and even then the snow sucked, it was mostly ice at my house)

2012.

Snowmageddon was 2009.  Lost power at our old house for 3 days.   Thankfully I had a generator that powered the gas furnace, some lamps, the fridge, and the telly.   We survived quite nicely.

I'm getting a kick, here in northern Canada with 3 feet of snow in my yard which will melt in late May.
