I can't wait for this thread about Democrats in solidarity to pivot into bitter arguing about the rail strike and 2016 primaries.

Unfortunately ,the vote against union workers has shown us that progressives in the house aren't ready to lead. We keep looking at Porter,Jayapal ,Bowman or AOC to stand up and draw attention to the issues and fight . Everytime ,they cave to conservative Democrats
It's a shame that we have Jefferies as Speaker but the Democrats have a long way to go before they get leaders who represent the voters.

A CNN article stating how everyone should unite around a corporate Democrat leader.
That isn't the call to unity that you think it is.
It is exactly what we expect from CNN.
They are still celebrating Pelosi who lost a majority in the house after only two years due to incompetence .

"in total array" in CNNspeak means "moving right of center".  Effectively rebranding the Democrats as being "the sane conservative party" alongside the "insane conservative reactionary party".

Hakeem Jeffries is a member of the Progressive Caucus (same as AOC, et al) and he's now leading the party in the house.

Between his promotion and making South Carolina the first primary, the old guard Democrats are showing a genuine good faith effort to both promote a new generation of leaders and embrace the diverse coalition that is now the foundation of the party.

I guess you didn't get the message. Jeffries grew up in a low income neighborhood with a social worker mother and substance abuse counselor father, he clerked for one of the first judges to recognize same sex couples as legal families, and he's married to a social worker who works for a union.

But he worked for a corporation for a few years, so he's a tool of the capitalist machine and "Third Way Democrat" which basically means he's a Republican.

That's because for a hot minute Bernie was the only Democrat in the party left of center. His entire platform of "far left" policy is just bog standard 20th century stuff and common sense.

But a senator can't chair a house position, i think, and we have people like AOC now in the house. Anyway Fetterman got it and any Dems who wanna win elections going forward will get it too. The conservative corporatist dems here will biatch about it till they die at work in deep medical debt because they don't have paid sick days, but the future is coming.

<Snark off>

Yes, it's true. He's an amazing guy. His record as a legislator is pretty stellar, he is especially sensitive about the fact that he represents more people in Public Housing than any other representative. He's done a LOT for people who live in Public Housing.
