I always wonder where these people come from and why it's so bad they will do this sort of stuff. I watched the stuff about people crossing the Darien Gap, which is super dangerous, if you're willing to do that things have got to be absolutely impossible back home.

Immigrants generally are the kind of people you want immigrating. It takes initiative, courage and ambition to leave your home behind to take a chance on building a new life in a new country. Those are the sorts of qualities that make for a dynamic, productive and innovative sort of people. The sort who would be a great benefit to any country.

It's not a coincidence that open immigration in the 19th Century led to the USA becoming a global economic powerhouse and superpower in the 20th Century.

From stamp collecting as a kid, I remembered Spanish Sahara (now gone) because just from the name I remember thinking (picturing vast expanses of sand dunes) "They need a postal service?"  Even the tiniest places issue stamps.

As evidenced in this very thread, most people don't know the difference between a paraglider and a hang glider.

It could've been a jetpack.

How the fark is Millila even part of Spain.  The view from Mount Gourougou about 2 miles away in Morocco reveals PLENTY of elevation for an unpowered glide down to sea level.

Your thought on this is something I reflect on quite a bit.  I am most likely going to expat in Portugal in 2 or more years.  The reaction from friends here is startling; it is as if I am emigrating to a land infested with cannibals.   I contrast this with the paraglider dude or those who brave the Darien Gap and shake my head.

The US has siphoned off the cream of humanity for the last 2 centuries.
