Does 'bama really drive nationwide ratings?

Must've finally seen the extra dollar signs from having more playoff games without necessarily fewer bowl games.

I assume so.  CBS chooses Alabama versus mediocre team over good team versus good team all the time.

CBS has a contract with the SEC to 2023. They switch over to the Big 10 in 2024.

I wouldn't be the least goddamn bit surprised if TCU and USC win their conference title games and finish 13-0 and somehow finish out of the top four behind Ohio State and Alabama.

I hope this 12-team setup will be the true playoff we need but I fear it will be an excuse to let in four or five three to four loss SEC and Big Ten teams over undefeated or one-loss teams from other conferences.

2024 it will be ABC primetime choosing Alabama versus mediocre team instead of good team versus good team.

Regular seasons that matter are for losers.

I'm curious what scenario you envision has USC finishing 13-0 this year.

The one where they go back in time and do not lose a game.

They encompass that important double wide trailer demographic.

Thank God. I was so looking forward for this sport's regular season to be as meaningless as every other's. They nudged their way there with 4 games. 12 will save me a lot of Saturday afternoons.

And don't give me that crap about people watching NFL regular season. That's fantasy sports and gambling.

I haven't deeply thought this through so pardon me if there's a scenario where it doesnt make sense but IMHO it should be stated policy of the playoff committee that a third loss automatically disqualifies a team from the playoffs.  I don't give a damn if a team lost to the #1,2 and 3 team in the country already - you've had your chances, its over.

/"but but but the entire SEC is better than the best team in the blah blah blah" .... stick it.

You're not always going to have 12 teams with 2 or fewer losses.

You might already know this as your words possibly indicate it but Gary Danielson was once with ABC and thus, did Big Ten games.
