It's going to go to geoengineering. Orbital parasols will seem trivial compared to what measures will come after.

Provided there's still a global technical civilization left to implement it.

I think it would be easier to move underground and/or underwater.

Hopefully more Termination Shock and less The Matrix.

Jesus Christ has no one seen Highlander 2?

I did some math over the weekend.  If we make a aluminum foil/mylar sphere like the Echo 2 satellite, but scaled it up to the payload capacity of a Falcon-9 rocket, it would make a sphere 180 meters across.

Not particularly impressive for 7 metric tons.

Uh, there's no sequel to Highlander.

It's treating a symptom. We're probably at the point where we need to treat both, but shooting particulate into the air isn't something you can turn off when we've had enough.

That's why we struck first against the burrowing owls so they wouldn't deafen us with their incessant hooting!

Pretty sure that requires Advanced Spaceflight

If "everyone" agrees geoengineering is stupid and dangerous, why don't we try to get off fossil fuels instead?

I think there are certain fossil fuel barons that think it's a great idea, and those people have waaaaay more power than all the people who are saying it's stupid and dangerous. Joe Manchin is the chair of the energy committee, that tells you all you need to know about whose voice matters and who doesn't get a say.
