And that's why gas prices are so high.

Wow. Two royal arab kleptocrats outbidding each other for the benefit of a russian kleptocrat.

Makes me feel like a chump, going to school and getting a job and stuff.

My art sense is at the Dogs Playing Poker level so if I decide to spend $450 million on something it won't be an old painting. Maybe something that looks real good and goes real fast.

A majority of experts in the field think it isn't a Da Vinci. As a method of money laundering sure it works but as a matter of art it is a fraud.

Valter: How much did the NFT for it cost?

The receipt is in a weird cloth covered "black" box shack that people travel across the globe to visit that has a magical rock that is totally not an idol. I'm feeling offended right now. How dare anyone describe any thing. This isn't the middle ages. This is the 21st century.

Oh, but only certain birthing people are permitted to visit for reasons. Probably the "chattel" lines in a the magic book are just for exclusion. Geez people this is basic stuff.

This might end up like the big finale of Glass Onion. It wouldn't even surprise me anymore.

Yeah, I thought that was pretty obvious just from the title.

"I totally accidentally bid against my own guy and that's why I paid such a ridiculous price. Not because I'm using this as a paper thin excuse to move some illegitimate money around."

Well he put the painting on a boat. A very big boat with every creature feature modern technology can provide. The painting will be kept in a light controlled and climate controlled environment, certainly. The painting by da Vinci is safe. On a boat.

many holy books point out not to worship false idols yet people fill their houses with paintings, murals, posters and art work representing false idols. the church has stained glass depictions. there's no stopping the madness.

You're not far off. Art is subjective and therefore a painting that initially sold for $10k is now $450 million USD because of a pissing contest? Little bit of a red flag there. Ask Van Gogh about how much his art was worth.

Old trick, actually ; regarding money laundering. Artwork, relics, etc.

These are people who kidnapped a western journalist and hacked him up with a scimitar and faced zero repercussions. They don't need to launder money.

I don't think Saudi princes need to launder money. They're kinda expected to piss away vast sums of cash. iat's their job.
