Holy shiat! When it was first announced, I expected a bit more subdued, sorta mockumentary.

That looks farking wild!

Looks like an Dollop episode in movie form

Also while it definitely looks interesting Liz Banks being the director give me pause. She doesn't have a wonderful track record. But we'll see I suppose

I mean, Pitch Perfect 2 was fine, and the direction was solid. Charlie's Angels I have... thoughts about, but again, the directing was great. There were actually some pretty fantastic shots in it. It's just the script that shiat the bed.

It looks like the comedy is there, and as long as the story doesn't end up being garbage, this will be a fun movie at worst. Not going to win any Oscars, but it will be a good way to blow two hours.

Based on a true story.

A drug trafficker tossed crates from his plane because it was too heavy, and after he parachuted out and died, wildlife officers found a bear in the middle the wilderness next to 40 opened plastic containers of cocaine. Bear ate 75lbs of coke!

This is going to be fun!

IIRC, they estimated the bear lived, at most, for a few minutes before its heart essentially exploded and all organs failed.

But for those few minutes, he lived a thousand lifetimes.

Well at least it's not Showgirls.

/see what I did there?

I assumed it was going to be more about the guy who lost the coke to begin with which is an interesting story in its own right.

Anywhooo, it just needs to be better than this - Jaws but with a bear.

Replace the bear with Half Scoop, and the same thing would happen after a late night binge.

So we're not talking about the fact that, as far as i know, this is Ray Liotta's final project?

Still better than how Raul Julia's last movie.

Cannot wait for the stories in March/April 2023 of idiots breaking into zoos to get animals high or idiots at Yellowstone or other parks trying to get bears high

IMDB lists 4 more other upcoming projects in his credits, so there's more Ray out there somewhere in post-production.

I give even odds that a certain Eric Clapton song is on the soundtrack.

I just checked each one. Cocaine Bear is the only one that even references Liotta's death, which you'd think, if one of them was the last one he was on set for, it'd be mentioned.

But since this has a release date and trailer, I don't know how it will be the last movie "released" after his death. Maybe the other 4 aren't getting major theatrical releases and don't count?

The use of "White Lines" in the trailer seals the deal on how fun this could be. That & the bear leaping after an ambulance.

For me it's the moment they cut to the kid who says "There was a bear! AND IT'S FARKED!!"  When you bring a kid into the adult comedy, you know they're crossing all the lines.

Will it beat Craig Ferguson's version, though? Unlikely, but going to see it nonetheless.

I still can't believe this isn't a bit from the Onion.   I swear we are being punk'd!  Wheres Ashton (looks over shoulder, as cocaine bear drags him away)

The story of what happened to the bear after death is pretty interesting as well. Apparently Waylon Jennings was involved:

Ray Liotta, Keri Russell, and the "sheeeeit" guy from The Wire? I would watch this even without the bear. Or the cocaine.

And in 2020, there was a story in Alabama (I think), where a sheriff told people not to flush their meth to keep it out of a water source that had alligators.

So the "Godzilla vs Kong" type sequel, "Cocaine Bear vs Meth Gator" practically writes itself.
