No better time for the Democratic Party to shank labor squarely between the shoulder blades than right after the midterms.

American workers are free to strike, as long as rich people don't lose any money over it.

All the things that moderates and conservatives call "far-left" are just common sense in other prosperous nations.

What do Republicans (next year) have to do with it?

Democrats are forcing them back to work this week.

Sick days are just a kook-left moonbat brogressive pie in the sky unicorn. Leftists need to message better if people are expected to believe that more sick days are a benefit to them. If you can't convince people that having sick days benefits them then we have no other choice but to reach across the aisle to our Republican friends and kick them to the curb.

This was exactly the tack used during the midterms by the dialysis industry, trying to blame labor for a) wanting to unionize and b) trying to make them spend a little more money on safety.  "Labor is putting 80,000 lives at risk!"  No, fark you, the corporations are doing that by threatening to close clinics instead of actually, you know, paying people well and improving their dialysis mill standards.

Bullshiat they didn't force the sick leave that is the main sticking point.

I have effectively unlimited sick time, a short and long term disability plans (funded by the company) and a supplemental plan that I pay maybe $5 a paycheck for.

To varying degrees I have always had the same insurances, but the lowest sick time I've ever had was a week.

Problem is American workers have been tricked into believe there is no common struggle. Most of the guys I hear think that if rail workers situation improves things will cost more for them. I'm sure most politicians are being cowardly and don't want to hear the whining if their constituents can't get little jimmy his elmo doll this Christmas.

Democrats lose elections because they regularly show that they give zero farks about the people who put them into office.

Denying sick leave to overworked rail workers in the name of protecting corporate 4th quarter profits, despite denying them stalling the unions for 6 months already, is bullshiat.

Like I said in the other thread: there are a lot of crocodile tears here from people who spent the last 6 years calling the AFL/CIO "the establishment".

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi responded to that concern by adding a second vote Wednesday that would add seven days of paid sick leave per year for rail workers covered under the agreement. However, it will take effect only if the Senate goes along and passes both measures. The House passed the sick leave measure as well, but by a much narrower margin, 221-207, as Republicans overwhelmingly opposed it, indicating that prospects for passage of the add-on are slim in the evenly divided Senate.

God damn you Joe Biden and the Democrats. God damn you all to hell.

U.S. History: Last Week Tonight with John Oliver (HBO)
Youtube hsxukOPEdgg

John Oliver: "Take the 'March On Washington'. That wasn't actually its full name. It was called the 'March On Washington For Jobs And Freedom', and the economic justice part of it was front and center. King actually grew more outspoken about that issue in the years that followed. And King himself understood why it was harder to make progress on that front.

Martin Luther King Jr.: (from news footage) "It didn't cost the nation one penny to integrate lunch counters. It didn't cost the nation one penny to guarantee the right to vote. Now we are dealing with issues that cannot be solved without the nation spending billions of dollars and undergoing a radical redistribution of economic power."

John: "Yeah, it turns out that Martin Luther King had more than one dream. And one of them was about wealth redistribution."

This is where fark progressives just get silly. "Workers should get 30 sick days and 45 vacation days and 25 days for when you get a little bit tired of life..."

The Association of American Railroads, which represents rail companies, said in a Monday news release that the average freight rail employee receives three weeks of paid vacation and up to 14 days of personal leave.

However, rail employees say that it's challenging to use this time off. One railroad, BNSF, even had a policy earlier this year that penalized employees who refused to take a shift - even in the cases of medical or family emergencies. A representative said the railroad discontinued this policy in June.
