Still not as big a failure than the original "Kraken."

And here I thought the Kraken had been released last night.  How the hell else to explain NINE goals?

I hope they gave them all a parting gift for their sorrows.

And it's only a 3rd of their workforce, and they hired that many people THIS YEAR. If you have been drinking the Kool aid so long you just now thought to stop growing at such a rapid pace, than they have probably already made so many bad long term decisions the company is screwed. And people still use the term crypto winter, like this was just another slump before it shoots up again. There were Superbowl commercials, huge investment companies, and it's own category on every business news site. The trip is over, just sell and walk away now...

How TF are there this many people on payroll at crypto exchanges?

My question exactly. It is a BBO database akin to a Securities Information Processor - oh wait I am thinking like a grandpa. We used to put a couple Sunfires with tons of RAM in a datacenter and map the Sybase quote engine to RAM and use multicast protocol to keep the exchanges up to date. Once built, you need a couple dozen employees max to keep it running, and that included tape jockeys.

What are thousands of people doing? Blockchain stuff?

They have to flood Reddit and Discord servers with pro-crypto / pro-Defi messages. It takes a lot of effort to convince people that they can become rich beyond their wildest dreams through the magic of "trust me bro."

This might turn out to be good for the economy. Lots of productive, intelligent people have been working at magic bean farms instead of places that produce useful work.
