Cue Oh No, anyway

I'm not so confident on the "career ending" part.

I'm in his district, and I honestly can't think of a single thing he's ever accomplished - good or bad. Kevin's always just... there. Everyone's expectations are that he exist, which nobody can deny he does.

To let people down, they'd have to expect something from him. He seems to coast on his bland, boring stupidity. Being ineffectual doesn't seem to matter.

Which is all to say: fark Kevin. Boring, dumbass honkey.

Heard someone here refer to him as "a whole-ass biatch" and it's stuck in my mind.

But his entire career has been nothing but an ongoing humiliation. Why would this be any different? Beyond the career-ending part, I mean, but that's almost certainly too much to hope for.

Dude's not even interesting enough to banal. On his ID his eye color is probably listed as "yes." I assume that whenever he answers his phone people start talking at him like they're leaving a voicemail.

Hard to believe......the last of the "Young Guns."

Who would of thought that given the chance they'd find something more lucrative to go do and would leave politics.

I am, of course, assuming that McCarty's business cards had a typo on them but he's spent years passing them out anyway.

Don't all these tRumpers all have the stink of failure surrounding them? If that hasn't sunk any political careers (wait, has Scaramuchi found a pundit job?) this won't even leave a mark.

During the run-up to the election, I  saw an ad for McCarthy smiling and glad-handing with the owners of a particular brewery that we have both patronized. Suffice it to say that I was rather disappointed. Apparently he had helped them in some way but I don't know any specifics.

Just think about it....Boehner had no idea what he was getting himself into.  And when it came time I have never seen anyone more gleeful about giving up the gig and walking away.

McCarthy, knowing what he does, actually thinks he has a shot at making it work.

That right there should disqualify him from the job.

I'm for the Dems teaming up with a handful of moderate GOPers and nominating Liz Cheney or Kinzinger or someone as speaker. The government will at least keep operating, and if they pass Republican stuff that people don't like, we can still pin it on the Republicans.

I remember that. I've chalked it up to "just business" on the brewery's part, but also don't know any specifics.

Still, fark Kevin. He's a mealy-mouthed doorknob.

It is the same group that gave Boehner fit that are dicking with McCarthy.  FTA:

several members of the right-wing House Freedom Caucus are still publicly vowing to deny him crucial votes.

2022-11-30 5:08:07 PM
I dont what the author is smoking but he will be elected speaker. He'll give into the mouth breathing holdouts allowing them bring a parade of stupidity up for a floor vote. Expect floor votes for the "Trump Won bill", "Biden is hereby triple impeached bill", "Lock up Hunter Biden's laptop bill" and "the Matt Gaetz child sex freedom bill."

2022-11-30 5:08:21 PM
The other side:McCarthy told reporters on Tuesday he won't drop out if he fails on the first vote, promising a floor fight even if the process goes into multiple ballots: "At the end of the day, we'll get there."

Dear God, I think I agree with McCarthy's analysis on this one.  It'll be embarrassing if he fails on the first ballot, but when Biggs gets miniscule votes, I think the dealmakers eventually agree to shrug shoulders and vote for McCarthy after some measure of concessions.  No one more extreme/right-wing/conservative/nuts/traitorous will wind up as a compromise candidate.  Eventually it will be, "we have no Speaker, despite the fact that we have the majority, or you guys vote for Kevin because he agrees to let Andy Biggs chair some subcommittee.

He's a lock.  A few grand-standers will vote No on the first go-around to make their "statement" but will get on board with the rest of the party in subsequent voting.   No one will remember this or care in two years when the GOP loses the House again.

If the GOP loses 20 votes for McCarthy, does that make it possible for a Democrat to get the majority of votes?

Not sure how this all works.....

Doesn't matter.  Speaker of the House doesn't have to be a sitting US Representative, it just always has been one.  Since the Speaker is voted on by the entire House, just need to find someone all the Democrats and about 8 Republicans or so would be willing to vote for over McCarthy.

It's a rather long shot, especially given that it's the Extremely Evil Caucus holding back their votes rather than the more moderate Mostly Evil wing of the party.  Would have a far greater chance of doing something like that if it was someone like MTG in the lead.
