Well judging from the article, he won't be for long. Unfortunately.

I remember "Pele's Soccer" for the Atari back in the early 80s. Probably the first licensed video game.

underrated joke in the soccer opening: "oh I never heard of those people" "and they'll all be signing autographs" "WOO HOO!"

CSB, My dad met him a couple of times by chance after Pelé had some training practice with "A Seleção". They had some quick talk on both occasions and that was it. No pictures or signed autographs :(  My dad said he was not arrogant or anything.
Hope the best for him.

Damn. This dude has had a lot of issues:

* In 1977, had his right kidney removed.
* In November 2012, Pelé underwent a successful hip operation.
* In December 2017, Pelé appeared in a wheelchair at the 2018 World Cup draw in Moscow.
* A month later he collapsed from exhaustion and was taken to hospital.
* In 2019, after a hospitalisation because of a urinary tract infection,
* Pelé underwent surgery to remove kidney stones.
* In February 2020, his son Edinho reported that Pelé was unable to walk.
* In September 2021, Pelé had surgery to remove a tumour on the right side of his colon
* In November 2022, ESPN Brasil reported that Pelé had been taken to hospital with "general swelling", along with cardiac issues and concerns that his chemotherapy treatment is not having the expected effect

What was really weird was soccer was just beginning to take off when I was a kid in USA.

Pele was a huge part of that, none of us knew A damn thing about soccer, but he was cool enough to make us want to learn.

Dig a hole on the pitch, this sounds like an imminent passing.

Soon to be RIP probably Pele.
