It's all protected by Judicial-Judicial privilege, anyhoo.

My days of considering this court corrupt are certainly coming to a middle.

It's the SCROTUS now subby.

I don't foresee in my remaining lifetime the SC regaining the trust or respect it once held. My hope that the SC was a body governed by precedence and established law pretty much died when RGB did.

RBG  ... fat fingers or autocorrect got me.

Now witness the derp power of this fully politicized supreme court.

And add some checks and balances into that as well.  And you know what?  Maybe we should reconsider the whole 'lifetime appointment' thing as well.  It makes it very easy for psychos to get in power and tarnish everything which is their ultimate end goal.

Eh, I could see 70 or 75. RBG was pretty sharp her entire life and had she retired at 75 that would have been 12 years before she passed and before most of her health issues.

'Murica.

Yeah, I could go with 70-75, but definitely I think a term limit should be imposed

Something like 10-15 years, but stagger them so every president gets to pick at  least 1 pick during a 4-year term.  Also, change it so that the Senate HAS to hold a full vote on every nominee.  None of this McConnell bullshiat of holding a seat open until a Republican president got elected.

No shiat. You mean Alito has been accused numerous times of leaking SCOTUS decisions and working documents since 2014, and nothing has been done? But now it's suddenly an issue?

Truly conservative prosecution! Gattica!

Why on Earth do we let institutions that are corrupt investigate themselves for corruption?!

How does anyone EVER expect a different outcome.

I really do wish iat were possible to just flush this court completely down the toilet and start seating a completely new one.

Too bad nothing that could possibly happen.

I mean, the court hasn't even the faintest concept of ethics. It's no surprise that they found Alito didn't commit an ethical breach because they have no clue what an ethical breach even is.

That's not what bothers me. What bothers me is that everyone ELSE will conclude that SCOTUS is irretrievably corrupt...and that's the sort of culture shift that sends empires down the tubes.
It'll take a while. 20-30 years maybe. But if the bulk of Americans believe that the courts are corrupt and not to be trusted, they'll stop obeying laws and do whatever they want.
It's happened before.

Until we fix this corrupted SCROTUS, we're farked as a country.  CU has broken America, and I honestly don't see a way back with this current system in place...

Problem solved.

if lifetime appointments are the problem, I'm sure there's a 2nd Amendment solution for that..

I don't actually even care about the leak/early release of the decision.

I also have zero faith in the SC's ability to regulate itself. It was never intended to, honestly. That's why there were supposed to be the checks and balances we learned about in school--the three branches of the government were supposed to be vaguely opposed, mistrustful of each other, and constantly keeping an eye on the others. They weren't supposed to collude and wink, wink at everyone's else's behavior.

But this court in particular has given me no reason to believe in their ethics, honor, or integrity.

2022-11-30 12:53:59 PM
TFA's author seems to think leaking is "transparency". That makes any further thing said irrelevant, since it's the work product of an idiot.

That was started by Democrats - it's the Biden Rule.

Biden can appoint anyone to any federal court. He could take a SCOTUS justice and nominate them to federal court in Guam, and once the Senate confirms them they are off the Supreme Court with an open seat for Biden to fill.

Bullshiat.

There was no "Biden Rule." That's a lie McConnell made up to whitewash his theft of Garland's Supreme Court seat.

Fixed, but totally agree.

Lobbyist Money = Bribe.  Full stop.

Corporations aren't people - or they could go to jail.

Also, tax billionaires until we are either out of homeless and poor, or out of billionaires.

As long as actions like this are treated as legitimate, and work to impair any attempt to correct the problem... Why should they do anything different?

The fundamental assumption here is that they want to be legitimate.  They don't, they want power.  The facade of legitimacy is just to help them hold onto it, and that only works with the collective consent of those over whom they have power.

I would like to clarify - so that I don't get lumped in with this comment - that in no way to I condone assassinating anyone.

Now, debilitating, explosive diarrhea...  That I can live with.
