I'm assuming Wonder Bread is still out there, although I admit I haven't really looked in decades.  Ate a lot of WB from the Day Old bread store as a kid.

Would a baguette stand up against Miracle Whip and packed in oil tuna? WB certainly didn't, but lunch was brown bag lunch and neither of the grade schools I attended had cafeterias or vending machines (not that I had much ready cash back then).

God UNESCO is stupid these days. They worship the dumbest things and ignore things that should be there but wont be because "reasons". Where are all the african countries on the list huh UNESCO?

Seriously, go look at their list for intangible heritage. It has manual bell ringing from spain, camel racing from  the UAE, and Hurling from Ireland. Once you look that up you will realize that yes, they have a weird prototype version of lacrosse on the list

There are African counties throughout the list.

This. When I was a kid, I used to tear the crusts off slices of Wonder Bread and roll up the white part into a ball. I don't recall trying to make it bounce, though.

McGrits: Croissant > baguette

McPolenta is better than McGrits.

Anyhow, hoping to get to Paris one day to try them.

Went to Paris way back in the 80s.  I was amazed that when you went to a bakery and asked for a baguette, the clerk took a paper square, grabbed the loaf and handed it to you.  Folks were just walking down the street with their baguette.

I was on a U.S. destroyer that was assigned to provide escort and radar support for the French CV Charles de Gaulle for a few weeks in the gulf. Every Sunday the Commanding Officer of the CV sent over several trash bags filled with fresh baked baguettes and several rounds of Brie.

Those heathens!

They should have first put on a disposable plastic glove, used a square of paper to pick up the bread, then put it into a plastic sleeve, tied it off with a twist tie, inserted it into a plastic grocery bag for carrying, then thrown away the disposable glove and square of paper before ringing you up!

/wonders why there's so much garbage everywhere

/still don't understand the Sixth Sense twist
