Very worthwhile viewing.

Yeah, I really didn't have much interest but started episode one on a lark while high, and holy shiat that series was great. Not perfect, and certainly silly at times, but it was an absolute blast. Totally worth checking out.

I am loving it!!  Two thumbs up.

I agree. Quality TV.

Although Jones is a bit of a dud in it.

Absolutely Awesome show. We binged right up the finale while the kids were home on the weekend, and I'm saving the last episode until this weekend. It's been Incredibly good.

I didn't expect much because I thought the casting was way off, but holy hell that was a fun show.

Awww, who never watched The Addams Family as a kid?

Lindhome was very good

I went in thinking the premise was gonna be weak, but I'll gladly eat my words. The show is a lot of fun and a pretty decent whodunit. I'm a few episodes from the finish line, but hope we get another season or two out if it.

You are apparently unfamiliar with the comic. Raul Julia was outstanding, but he very much reinvented Gomez. The casting was consistent with the creator's original work.

I'm halfway through and am enjoying it. I hope the series doesn't make the same mistakes as Sabrina. The show is absolutely chock full of inconsistencies though. The school isn't filled with Addams-types. Many of the students are mythical creatures (werewolves, gorgons, sirens, wizards...) and the rest of the world is oblivious to it.

It was Addams v.s. Munsters as a kid.
I favored Addams, having been a fan of the comic.
Munsters was a shlock copy.
A Madison ave cash grab.

Ahhh. I never read the comics. I've only seen John Astin and Raul Julia as Gomez

I really enjoyed Gwendoline Christie. She looked so glamorous I didn't recognize her at first. They really use her height well in the series.

This is one of the few shows that I actually binged and watched all episodes straight thru (okay, took two nights) instead of getting kinda bored after ep2 or so.  Very enjoyable.

Sorry, did not care for the daddy Addams portrayal - I've heard it's more consistent with the original work, but still not liking it.  Not everyone has to like the original work either.

The Addams Family series got silly at times? Whoda thought?

Mrs. Devil and I watched the first two episodes last night.  I was apprehensive. I really loved Christina Ricci as Wednesday in the movies and didn't see how they could possibly find someone to do the role that well.  I was completely wrong.  Jenna Ortega is awesome as Wednesday.

The show feels somewhat like Addams Family goes to Hogwarts but I'll ignore the silliness and just enjoy the acting. I'm hoping Wednesday gets to do some more damage - piranhas in the pool was fun, but it would be nice to see some more mayhem and attempted murder.

Less Wizards and more psychics. There was one kid who could control bees and another with Telekinesis. Honestly the show was lacking in witchcraft. Hopefully more Book of Shadows fun next season.

I don't think that the portrayal of Gomez and Morticia is supposed to be compelling. It's the characters from the primary perspective of a teenage Wednesday, who on top of being Wednesday Addams is like any teenager going to view her parents as boring and embarrassing.

I refuse to watch an Addams Family movie or show that doesn't involve MC Hammer.

I saw a few episodes this weekend. I enjoyed it, but I was loaded. Wednesday seems like a rip of April from Parks and Rec. When I saw Luiz Guzman I started laughing my ass off I thought he was great.

I checked in on this thread because I wanted to ask if it is worth watching, but going off the comments already made, I will be binging it once I get back from running a few errands. Got nothing to else to do today, so here's hoping it's fun?

I love the show. Jenna Ortega knocks it out of the park

2022-11-30 10:17:55 AM
Watched the first episode and gave it up. Main actress is good but even though they attempt dark humor like the '90s movies it almost always falls flat. And the result is a dramedy that's not very funny and not very dramatic. But I can see it catching on with the Gen Z crowd who are too young to know the movies and how it was done much better.

It is surprisingly awesome.

Still find it hysterical that Wednesday is getting involved and juggling the advancements of 3 different guys despite the fact that she's an emotionless goth dork who can barely put together sentences.  Underneath that prickly emotionless exterior, she's an awesome cute caring and super smart person, but still.

And I really enjoy the contrast of her dark emotionless character with the overly bubbly full of all emotions blonde roommate.

Luiz Guzman is beyond horrible as Gomez, but he only appears in two episodes and is barely in one of those.  So, not a big deal.

/Typically hate Tim Burton, and his irritating style of never using normal camera angles is prevalent here, but I'm enjoying it so far.

Put me in "I am really liking it" group. Between Burton, Elfman and the cast how can you go wrong

I rarely 'binge' a show these days.
I did with this one (over 2 days).

The first episode had me doubting, but it took off after that.
Not flawless, but somehow extremely watchable and enjoyable. 8/10 for me

Wednesday never blinks.

100% agree - and I am not a big Burton fan these days either...but damn if this show didn't hook me regardless
The Uncle Fester shoehorn-in was weird too, but harmless fun.

Is the main theme behind this about a "dumbass" kid trying to find her way in the world? Most shows featuring late teens or early 20 somethings are like that. As an old fart, I hate that theme.

I wouldn't say he's bad as Gomez, but I felt Gomez and Morticia were written as dumb teenagers who never grew up.

Tell me Andy Dalton wouldn't have been a slam-dunk Gomez.  I like Luis Guzmán, but he was definitely a casting misstep here.

I still say that Angelica Houston is the best Morticia. She had that sultriness.

Completely horrible. This is as much Addams Family as Riverdale is Archie. That being, it's not. We barely finished it.

When I got home from work yesterday, my daughter was watching this show, that scene in particular. She was NOT impressed when I started singing along with Lux to "Goo Goo Muck". All I heard as she stormed off was "G*D! I guess I can't enjoy anything anymore!" My work done, I was free to watch US vs. Iran in the world cup on the good TV.

To be fair, when I sang "I'm the nightmare hunter looking for some head" my wife also left the room, and not in that cool "hey, follow me" kind of way.

Yes. I think those movies were the best version of the source material. And even if you disagree, either way it was always intended to be satirical and funny, and the comedy in the episode I saw was a swing and a miss.

It is, and a worthy addition to the Addams line of shows/movies.
And very much like the original comics.

2022-11-30 12:02:31 PM
It is satirical and funny. It is also self aware and pays homage to both the tv show and movies that were inspired by Mr. Addams original works.

It avoids the CW "cringe" by simply having a main protagonist with no teenage angst to give.
