While it's unlikely, imagine if just enough sensible Republicans in the incoming House realized that the GOP was beyond saving and switched either to Democratic, or to Independent or maybe some other party but caucusing with Dems for leadership elections, that this one seat tilted it to the Dems before January 3.

flol

Congratulations, GOP. You could have stopped this at the start with a cohesive national message on trusting election security and coordination with your propaganda networks. But, no, y'all had to entertain this at the expense of the hard-working members of your own party, to appease an orange buffoon.  gg

WHY are they doing this? I thought a Republican won. Or is this just a test to see if just ignoring votes will work?

Ugh. Who cares. Nothing makes sense and I don't live in the US.

FarkingChas: Article said the deadline was the 28th. So, what happened?

Two lawsuits have been filed to force them to certify the votes before the day the state government tabulates the final count. The supervisors hired a lawyer who represented Cyber Ninjas to defend them. Several politicians have suggested filing criminal charges against the two Republicans whose baseless paranoia has to date illegally disenfranchised 47,000 voters.

The adults are talking, so to speak: Cochise County got sued by the Secretary of State over their failure to certify their election results in a timely manner.

Then a Cochise County resident decided to use a GQP tactic and is also suing Cochise County over being disenfranchised due to their unwillingness to certify the election results.

I think they're trying to get Kari Lake into the Governor's Mansion (does Arizona have one of those?)..

I think losing a house seat is part of the election denialism plans.

Then conservative media can hound and scream about this for 2 years while this makes its way to SCOTUS who says states CAN override county results they don't like.

Then red states can simply not certify blue counties and it then becomes an automatic Republican house majority every 2 years forever.

There are more red states with more districts than blue states with blue districts.

Hobbs argued in the lawsuit that the county is not only violating state law but also will "potentially disenfranchise the voters of Cochise County.""

I hope these chucklefark GOP voters remember that it was the Dem who ensured their votes counted.

"Republican Juan Ciscomani is the projected winner for Arizona's 6th Congressional District. Despite being regarded as a rising star in his party..."

Anyone regarded as a rising star in today's GOP is probably a complete monster of a person. Seeing him get screwed over by his own party's insanity warms my shriveled little cockles.

Well he's not really getting screwed over by his whole party, just a couple of election denying MAGAts in his own State. Why no one in the GOP has told these 2 idiots to STFU is beyond me.

The two idiots are getting sued by their own party to compel them to certify.

Which also warms my little black heart.

I think the explanation is that there are a couple of Democrats that won, so they are totally throwing a fit about how it must be fraud.  They already started that ball of dung rolling before realizing that the same ball of dung contains wins for THEIR side too.

2022-11-30 7:17:38 AM
It doesn't matter. Their plan is designed to test the system and fail because it's just prep work for 2024 election shenanigans.

FarkingChas: Article said the deadline was the 28th. So, what happened?

From another article, I think the impression that the final deadline for the state to certify the official count is Dec 7th(8th?).  The 28th was the deadline for the counties to certify their numbers to the state.  If they still haven't certified by the Dec date, the state will be forced to certify without their numbers.

/Article wasn't entirely clear, so I may be off a bit.

2022-11-30 8:26:43 AM
We laugh now, because it's a GOP county so it appears as if they're shooting themselves in the foot, but allowing a county to refuse to certify their votes would be a dangerous precedent. Don't like the election results? Just ignore the votes.

2022-11-30 8:40:13 AM
The GOP seems to have a problem thing things through, the active word being "thinking".
