The one thing, well , there a quite a few things that I do not understand, but the main thing :
Why does Apple ever have the damn need to advertise ? I am not a fan. The stuff looks kinda nice , granted.
I think it is overpriced status symbol junk. But so damn many people will camp out for days to get a new imac or iphone or ibackscratcher ( because this model has 6 fingers and they are ruby coloured ! ) or whatever.
They are so damn popular they sell themselves. People like to talk about their damn phones and what have you.
They have word of mouth and a brand loyalty that many companies would kill for.

And I see plenty of ads for them online in some games that I play.
But why should they be forced to give money to a company that they do not want to do business with ?
That sounds like COMMUNISM!!
Oh wait, that's right, the greedy old paedophile party is a bunch of hypocritical fascist farkwards who hate America.

Technically? No, which means Muskrat has absolutely no case. But there's also only so much effort a lot of people are willing to go through to check Twitter, and it is not a lot.

There's blood in the water. Alternatives to Twitter are circling, and if one can stay on the app store while providing a similar enough experience, Twitter is even more boned. Especially if that competitor actually moderates and gets the attention of advertisers who have actual budgets.

I don't know the political leanings of whoever's running Apple right now (I assume it's the God-Money Party), but if it were me, I'd call them on it. How many Rs are going to switch to Androids? And as far as monopolies, well... Androids. Any sane judge would toss it out after reading the opening. It's not like Apple doesn't have enough lawyers on retainer, give those folks something to do.

Not that I believe Musk at all, Apple would either remove the app or not, I don't see them threatening. What's the desired outcome there? Do X or we remove the app... what's X? No, Musk's just crying for attention because people (including Apple) are pulling ad money from the shiatshow his running of Twitter is. And DeSantis & co are just trying to ride his little coattails like they try to ride whatever popular person is currently in vogue.

"Moderate your shiat so advertisers and markets with hate speech laws stop breathing down our necks, and pay us our cut like everyone else does.".

Apple doesn't exactly want to kick shiat off of their app store, especially big names like Twitter. If nothing else, it causes PR issues that they don't want to bother with.  But they will do so, even to big names (Epic Games was a recent one), if the company becomes more of a pain in the ass than its worth.

We've been watching a narcissist's facade crumble on an epic scale over the last few years. He started with a shiatload of good PR, but when people started criticizing him directly, it started to flake off. Then he called the cave rescue guy a "pedo", and that really kicked the downward spiral into overdrive.

Dude built a pyramid around his ego, but the more hits it took, the more it became clear that under the surface was just a gigantic pile of rancid shiat.

Pretty sure it kept the walled garden intact, but did bring the complaint that most digital storefronts take a 30% cut for most non-sale units sold. Also pointed out a ton of inside info about the crossplay "issues" and the fact that Sweeny pretty much knew they had no real standing for some of their complaints.

Musk is looking to release an app called "X" and it's an "everything app".

If him along with the GOP and other international backers work to undermine Apple, they can swoop in with their private equity megazord and become major stake holders in it to gatekeep cellphone access.

That X app would probably be the replacement for iOS.

And since the regulatory shiat for Apple is in the US, if they poison the government to prevent regulation while simultaneously take over Apple, these faceless fascist cyber security organizations can then impose fee-for-service for all apps that run on the phone so people would have to pay to unlock features.

Oh and China's fascist backers pushing the "Zero Covid" bullshiat is destabilizing Apple's (and other device) manufacturing supply chain too.

Coincidence?

Epic put code in their mobile apps that when activated after App Store review allowed you to buy V Bucks directly instead of going through their respective App stores. Apple & Google dropped the banhammer almost immediately.

Funny, Epic had no problem with Sony, MSFT, or Nintendo taking their cut on their consoles.

Your last sentence answered the first. Apple doesn't "advertise" per-se, but brand identity is absolutely paramount for them.  Therefore they refuse to associate with anything that might damage it.

This is a reason why no "NAZIs are Us" Apps are available on the Apple store. Not because you can't find someone willing to write one, but because Apple doesn't want their name associated with it.

This also applies if Twitter effectively becomes the "NAZIs are Us" App. At a certain point, Apple would have to step in.

And it has absolutely zero to do with morality or partisanship. Just a lack of stupidity on their part. People who would be less likely to buy from a company that accepts fascist messaging make up a very large percentage of their customer base. Much larger than those for whom it's an attraction.

2022-11-30 2:51:19 AM
Remember why those right wing social network apps can't get on the App stores. They either completely lack moderation, or they actively do not moderate against dangerous / violent / racist posts, or overall health threats like Covid disinformation. It's not some looney left plot lol, it's pretty basic business and safety.

These companies also have to juggle trying to stay inside of bounds of foreign laws. They can claim 'yeehaw' and 'freeze peach' all they want, but we're not the only country on the planet, and most are a good big stronger with laws against deadly speech.

Musk canned the whole moderation team and the legal adherence team lol. Presumably they got at least 1 poor soul in charge of banhammers again, since Antifa, BLM, and left leaning accounts are getting banned.

The point is, if not already, it's easily able to violate the Apple and Google stores ToS. I don't even think there's a legal argument Space Karen could make on it.

Ol' Musky mumbled something about creating his own mobile phone. Apparently he hasn't noticed that getting a new smartphone platform off the ground is an incredibly difficult thing to do. Microsoft tried it and failed with their Windows phone, despite it receiving glowing reports from the people who did buy one. I don't think he has anywhere near the ability to do a smartphone as well as Microsoft do.

I have a feeling that Apple might try to pre-empt federal regulation by doing something slippery. Like, I dunno, spinning-off the app store into a standalone company in which Apple holds a 50% +1 share stake. I'm no lawyer, but there might be a sneaky way to do it.

Ghislaine Maxwell reportedly asked Elon Musk to destroy the internet in the famous photo of the two that the billionaire claims was a photobomb

https://www.businessinsider.com/elon-musk-photo-with-ghislaine-maxwell-conversation-destroy-internet-report-2022-10

For those that some how don't know who Ghislaine Maxwell is at this point, she is a convicted child sex trafficker who was partners with Jeffrey Epstein.

In 2014 Elon and Maxwell are posing in a picture together, as if they have known each.  Because of this picture there higher than 0% chance that Elon could indeed be a pedophile.

In the not too distant future, what we consider a working smartphone by today's standards will only be available to the extremely wealthy who can pay to unlock features.  Features like a shelter, private car, meal delivery, talk and text messaging.

Everyone else will be too poor to afford one and you'll be stuck lugging-around a throttled biometrically-linked underpowered Windows tablet that requires 4 hours of daily ad content watching just to unlock tiktok.  Ads for pay-day loans, reverse mortgages, pawn shops...(etc).  You want YouTube? Wikipedia? The News?  Well that requires 7 hours of ad watching.

You'lol have to wait hours for your delayed Tesla taxi that you must reserve 24 hours in advance to take you to and from work at the semi-conductor factory.  This delay is a "fee" imposed by Elon Musk's legacy algorithim that discovered you said mean things about him in on a 2013 message board he now owns and controls.

You'll get fast food at work 6 days a week and perish at 65 from chronic metabolic diseases "long Covid complications." Healthcare is only for pregnant women, newborns and people on Medicare over the age of 75.
