Ahhhh white Justice.

Must be nice.

Have we no prisons?

That's a pretty cushy gig for community service. Picking jugs of piss along the highway is so much worse.

Also think of the committed volunteers that have to deal with them now.

2022-11-30 6:16:13 AM
Wait... interfere with an election and the punishment is to allow them to do it again?

I wouldn't trust them to register shiat.

In fact I would expect them to dump everything in the nearest toilet as soon as they got the chance.  Unless of course they are required to do their community service while surrounded by 6 bouncer sized POC that have been given permission to Roadhouse them if they get out of line.

2022-11-30 7:23:18 AM
I feel like a better punishment would be prison, and ordering them to make further restitution by paying a better group to do the registrations.

No? Just me?
OK then.

Yeah, aren't we going to have to spend an equivalent amount of man-hours checking their work to make sure they're not back on their racist farkery? Fark, even if they DID attempt it honestly and in good faith, I don't believe that brain trust could complete a first grader's math homework, let alone faithfully and accurately register (mostly poor) people to vote.

I hope the penalties for failure involve hefty fines, rusty blades moving at high speeds, and testicular trauma.

// can't even trust Burkman to zip up his damn pants, soooooooo

2022-11-30 7:24:36 AM
"The sentence is appropriate..." let me stop you right there bro, they should be put to death, and if the consequences of this crime are basically nothing they'll set up a phony volunteer org to certify their hours and do it much more broadly next election cycle.

Has anyone seen Jacob Wohl and Charlie Kirk at the same place at the same time? All you white people kind of look the same to me.

2022-11-30 7:25:42 AM
That's convicted felons Jacob Wohl and Jack Burkman subby.

physt: Wait... interfere with an election and the punishment is to allow them to do it again?

Plus it's seems weird to give those 2 more access to voter's personal information.

Honestly, IMHO, these people should be hung for treason

2022-11-30 7:26:37 AM
Ah, sentence racists to minority neighborhoods? Nice.

/I hope their probation officer will be strict, and a minority.

If a black woman votes and doesn't realize that she is isn't allowed to do so the justice system will have her spend time in jail..
If you are a conservative and prevent a whole group people from being able to vote ,you get a chuckle and a hand slap.

2022-11-30 7:28:06 AM
It won't take long for them to violate those conditions.

2022-11-30 7:28:26 AM
Maybe this is some 4D chess? They may loathe this community service so much they do such a bad job and thus fail to complete/comply. Then the hammer drops and they get major jail time?

/wishful thinking

In general, I'd like to see more restitutive justice, compared to the "lock 'em up & feed & clothe them at taxpayer expense until they're half-feral and can't survive in the modern world anymore, then let them loose and do it all over again" current prison-industrial-complex.  That it's currently only applied to privileged classes & ethnicities is a problem, yes, but the idea is still sound, outside of our institutionalized prejudices.

Of course, as anyone who's taken Criminology 101 can tell you, it's not always that simple.  But it could be, for a lot of things.  No need to fine someone into poverty or lock them up for years.  If it can be made right, make them responsible for making it right.  It helps show them what damage they really did.

But, of course, that requires a lot more manpower and work.  That leaves too few tax dollars for grift and graft, kickbacks, subsidies and donor favors...

Rage Against the Thorazine: physt: Wait... interfere with an election and the punishment is to allow them to do it again?

What? You haven't heard of punishing bad cops by making them go be cops somewhere else? Or letting church leaders who are busted as pedophiles be punished by being going to work with kids in another church somewhere else?

The only positive is that these two are so infinitely stupid, they will do something illegal and get a judge who isn't pants on head stupid and will be angry enough to give them a real punishment.

2022-11-30 7:44:43 AM
the duo has not entirely escaped possible jail time. The Michigan case remains pending.

New York Attorney General Letitia James (D) later joined the lawsuit, seeking to impose a $2.75 million fine against them and two other co-defendants.

Good news, there are 2 more lawsuits pending.

edmo: Have we no prisons?

We should be letting weed offenders and low-level offenders out of for-profit prisons, and filling them with the domestic terrorists in the GQP that do everything to overthrow the government, make voting harder, threaten the lives of those different than them/gov't officials.

2022-11-30 7:56:56 AM
Interfering with elections should be punishable by death, especially considering how many more Americans die whenever Republicans hold office.

2022-11-30 7:58:08 AM
They should both be rotting in GITMO.

And there is no chance in hell that they aren't going to use this as an opportunity to disenfranchise even more black voters.

2022-11-30 8:00:25 AM
Of course, the proper punishment for these two trying to interfere with people voting is to let them have official access to voter registration information, as well as being responsible for making sure people are registered correctly. Surely they won't do anything underhanded like sabotaging the registrations of people they think won't vote the way they want.

2022-11-30 8:05:48 AM
And as punishment for chicken murder you are hereby ordered to guard the hen house for 500 hours.

2022-11-30 8:08:50 AM
So they will be able fark up the applications just enough to disenfranchise how many voters?

2022-11-30 8:13:40 AM
For Wohl and Burkman, the antics crossed the line into criminal and possible civil liability months before the 2020 election, when they sent out robocalls - mostly to Black communities in Ohio, Michigan, New York, Pennsylvania and Illinois.
The woman in one of the calls, identifying herself as "Tamika Taylor," disseminated bogus information about mail-in voting.

/But don't you DARE call them racists!

Reverse the scenario, though. Given a choice between being outdoors and slinging jugs of piss into a trash bags or registering MAGAs to vote, I'd pick the former.

Even though he's on house arrest Jacob can still travel the world via his backyard.

Did the judge say WHERE they had to register people. Because Liberia isn't a state.

"You've been convicted of writing bad checks. This court fines you $10,000."

"Okay, who should I make it out to?"

2022-11-30 8:29:58 AM
I hope the judge ordered their fly has to be fully zipped up for all of those 500 hours; otherwise it could be awkward.

2022-11-30 8:39:26 AM
I volunteer to supervise.   I've door knocked in low income areas of Cleveland and supplied voter registration forms.

Of course, I would be telling everyone they talked to why they are doing it.  And I would need a wheel barrel to help me haul the bag of popcorn I would need.

/would prefer jail time AND this community service

2022-11-30 8:42:06 AM
Did the judge hug them after and invite them to dinner?

2022-11-30 8:47:25 AM
How is this different from giving a sex offender the job of monitoring the girls' showers at the high school?

Sabotaging a voter registration is probably very easily done by including lots of errors.  If you were deprived of a right by someone, would you really give them personal information?

I'm happy to report your honor that after 500 hours of community service working to register new voters that 6 new voters have been successfully registered. They are all Republicans and only 2 of them have been discovered to be fraudulent second registrations in an attempt to cast 2 ballots. Mission Accomplished.

In other news, check out my new report that 33% of new voter registrations are found to be fraudulent which casts many doubts on democratic voter registration initiatives.

I think they should have been sentenced to clean the busiest NYC stations with a toothbrush, as in the movie Private Benjamin, for 20 yrs.!
