I love how Star Wars Lore, or cannon, or whatever you want to call it, for the last 20 years, has been ret-conning the empire in a way to really drill in they are the bad guys.

Because the first movie, which would be shiat by any metric other than VFX at its time, starts with the "good" guys committing a war crime and acknowledging the "bad" guy normally play by the rules.

Like less than 5 minutes in people.
