Those trophies are, um, well possibly they've been, um, used to celebrate a big night.

I genuinely don't get the fawning over the Gervais monologue. It was funny, but it wasn't the brutal takedown everyone acts like it was.

Chris Rock got slapped at the Oscars for much tamer jokes than Gervais ever said, so to the rich and famous it was a brutal takedown. Narcissism be like that.

Chris Rock got slapped because he's creepy little cretin who's been harassing Smith's wife for years and hiding behind "comedy.'

He got slapped because Will, who laughed at the joke at first, got the evil eye from that wife of his.

You thought it was funny?

That man literally get a paid to be funny and can not pull it off.

I can think of a hundred women that could nail that job.

But, let's have a dull foreigner do it.. *sigh* again.

The article doesn't say who will be hosting.

Might not have a host at all, no idea.

I always thought it was weird he was biatching about rich narcissistic celebrities while being a rich narcissistic celebrity.

Kinda weird to call out others crappy behavior and telling them to change while not doing that for yourself

It was just different than most host show monologues. Usually they aren't so....harsh

Gervais was way harsher. He told the Hollywood crowd they were too uneducated to lecture the rest of the country. He admonished them for sucking up to known rapists like Weinstein and Epstein, and that they would sell their souls to ISIS for a good paying job.  He also called the golden globe voters stupid and corrupt.

But other than that

It was brutal by the standards of an industry and venue that coddles it's important people.  By Comedy Roast Battle standards?  Maybe not.

These awards are hot garbage.  I won't watch any of it.  At least if Gervais was hosting, I'd watch his monologues the next day on YouTube.
