Hey, the last time I had a "blast" in a theatre before covid was  watching Boo2. The production value  was crap and was  worse the Boo 1. But, I was reclunctant and Brad jones  mentioned  it. I was  the only guy who was white   in the theatre it wasn't packed but, had a hoot.

We watched his Jazzman movie on Netflix - it had a strong plot but was paced too slowly and some of the cultural touchpoints he wanted to work in were a little on the nose.

He gets to give himself at least 4 very large checks.
And the best part to him he gets to wear women's clothing.

On Monday, The Hollywood Reporter reported that Perry, 53, has signed a deal with Amazon to write, direct and produce four feature-length movies that will premiere and release on the company's streaming service.

I was surprised to learn that he's only 53. Given the number of films he's made I sort of assumed he'd been in the business for at least 50 years.

I was curious and looked it up. That guy produced 26 movie in 17 years and 12 of them were those damn Madea movies.

Every black person on the South Side every single copy. My straight male cousin had all 12.

You know, I gotta tell you, I love those movies. I bought a box set at Walmart and if I can laugh and pray in 90 minutes, that is money well spent.

Tyler Perry's Amazon Prime Tyler Perry produced Tyler Perry thing, presented by Tyler Perry?

I have never seen a guy try so hard to be a thing.

Roger Corman has directed 56 and produced 515 movies, according to IMDB, and is still active in the industry at age 96. God damn. I didn't know the guy was still alive.

Anyway, quantity does not equal quality, as most of his movies are terrible. As are Tyler Perry's. Tyler Perry just gets paid orders of magnitude more for his output, for some reason.

Prime hasn't given me 2 day delivery in a couple of years. 10-14 is more accurate these days

I watched only Jazzman's blues and kind of liked it. What sorts of movies will he produce?

I say this as a pretentious white lady...his movies are fine. They are stupid but fairly progressive and always have a couple of good chuckles. He uses them to build up his community and multiple actors of color got their start through them. I've gotten more enjoyment out of Madea films on average than MCU films on average.
