They ruin your view of the action if you misbehave.

IDK, an untethered EVA could be pretty thrilling.

Particularly during re-entry.

A few verses of Vogon poetry usually does the trick.

What if you are accidentally frozen for 500 years and then thawed out? Do you get interest on your accounts?

Marcus Aurelius: They ruin your view of the action if you misbehave.

In the ISS medical procedures book, there is a procedure for what to do when an astronaut gets loopy in the head. Pretty much it is restrain and tape the astronaut to a wall and then administer Valium.

Break out the tiny violins for the people paying $500k to pretend to be an astronaut worrying about guarantees that their meals are paid for if things are delayed.

Compound interest of 2.25%. Just deposit $0.96 and watch it grow.

Same as on the high seas.  Captain makes and enforces the rules.

Billy Bathsalt: Same as on the high seas.  Captain makes and enforces the rules.

With the notable change that the captain's masters, admirals Momentum and Energy, are VASTLY more pitiless than the cruelest sea on earth.

Until the far fully-industrialized-space future, there is no rescue. There are no islands. No coasting and waiting if you can't make the required delta-v.

There have been more than a few scifi stories that are variations on the theme of, "you stow away? You get spaced, no matter how sympathetic we are, because we cannot reach our destination with the added unexpected mass."

You have the right for your sleep casket to be drooled over by Chris Pratt.  You have the right for your sleep casket to be sold to aliens who want human bodies to experiment with (this was either Walter Jon Williams or maybe Stephan R. Donaldson's idea, and super creepy, selling a whole ship full of sleep caskets to aliens).

In science fiction, being wide awake on the ship may not be that much fun either.  (citation - literally all of the other sci fi stories)  I didn't read the article, but your actual rights are zilch when the food runs out (citation - Seveneves).

You have the right to fight for survival in a post-apocalyptic space hellscape.
