Note: This is not to denigrate Nancy Pelosi, but to describe the very high level of her skill.

That's from TFA that you weren't going to read.

I figure by getting it in early the rage spittle in the thread will be reduced by 15%.

The Green New Deal did essentially end up entombed in a row house, but you can't entirely blame Nancy Pelosi for that.

She knew her way around the political arena like a professional, in that she showed true, admirable qualities people should desire in any respectable leader. The unfortunate reality is that the political arena stopped serving the American people adequately quite some time ago.

What kind of metaphors will the media come up with to describe Chuck Schumer at the end of his reign?

"He wasn't a New York Liberal. He was more like an Olive Garden: corporate, overpriced and way too salty."

Crazy to think that even with all that experience literally every farker knows better than her.

I stopped reading the article after a few paragraphs and not a single mention of how COMPLICIT she was, and nothing about her failing to SEND IN THE SERGEANT AT ARMS. I mean, if the author can't even acknowledge how horrible and out of touch she is, why would I believe anything else they write?

Huh, weird criteria. I would think people would retire when they don't feel like working or when they're no longer able to perform their role effectively.

I'm sure you would enjoy some sniveling loser demanding you pack it in due to some arbitrary indicator of age. That is if you had a job.

Ageism is so cool.

While I disagree with the comment about "Adult with JFK", it should be noted that there are places that do use arbitrary indicators of age....like actual age. Judges have to retire in some jurisdictions, pilots, etc. By your own logic, they should be good to still interpret law or fly a plane if they want.

To be fair, it never really did nor was it intended to serve people. The founding fathers never really intended Joe Hobo Farmworker to have real political power, a feeling quickly extended to Johnny Factoryworker. Frankly, there is a powerful argument to be made that this is a good thing. People can't have everything they want, but that's what everyone wants. This may come as a shock to some people, but the idea that political power should spread wealth and opportunity to the broader masses is very new, and got its big start with the idea that the broader masses should violently seize political power for themselves, and only really became a civilized discussion when the elites were coerced into grudgingly doing so to preserve a semblance of their own power, or as a way to gain more power for themselves by creating popularity with the masses against other elites. In the broad scheme of things the vast majority of people have been little more than cogs in the machine we call society, the faster you become comfortable with that concept the easier your life gets.

Consume less, save and invest more. The only way to gather power is to amass wealth.

Pelosi is the hero from The Jabberwocky. There's a handful of fruminous articles and manxome Farkers who try to string together some positive thoughts on her legacy, but there's not really much you can say about someone who's galumphing into the $400 category on Jeopardy.

What "certain democrats" would those be?

Those in desperate need of criminal Justice reform that defund police budgets?Health care reform that makes it actually affordable?

Because they sound more like "Democrats" than an image rehabilitation article that casts one of the most ineffectual leaders the house had ever seen as a Corleone "godfather" figure with in the Democratic Party. Someone who thinks power has to be taken from her and now that it's been pried from her worthless hands is in full desperate scramble to remain relevant with in the Democratic Party as anything other than a self serving rich old lady out of touch with 90% of the Democratic Party voters needs?

fark Pelosi, and fark this hack.

You have to reach the age of 35 to be president. Why shouldn't we say 75 is the cutoff date. I mean open a seat up for the next generation FFS. At least someone young enough to understand that a server isn't just a guy that brings food to the table.

That's what elections are for.

It's not a lack of opportunity for a seat, it's a lack of candidates running for them

If you want to argue it's about money or an unwillingness to have their entire lives invaded or the hopelessness of gerrymandering, so be it.

But don't let's pretend the old guard is refusing to open up seats to younger representatives when those seats are up for grabs every couple of years like clockwork.
