You want to use the unweildly terms Hispanic He/Him and Hispanic She/Her, go ahead.

Been reading L&R since the 1st collected volume, and I've got the issues through the 1st 50. Never followed it after that; Fantagraphics stopped publishing new issues for a while, and I never noticed when they started up again. Cool they're still doing it.

Well subby, I HAVE heard of them, since I listened to the NPR story last week.

one of the things I love about Love & Rockets...in particular Jaimes work, is the characters naturally age over time.
I didn't start reading the series until after it had been out for a few years, and had only read early back issues etc, then commissioned a sketch from Jaime around 1991 and he sketched Maggie and Hopey as they appeared in the book at the time, which is how I discovered how he progressed the storyline...and still does decades later.

Man I miss punk and/or weird metal. They rolled with the punches so easily, and sometimes quite literally.

Even the article writer uses Latina. Headlines are frequently written by an editor, who may suffer from cranialrectal inversion.

Pretty much the same for me, except I picked it up when they first started. Had no idea they were still publishing, but then I haven't been in a comic shop for 15+ years.

Heard of the band (named after the comic) first.  Never listened to them, though, either.

Hey, I dated gals with asymmetrical bobs in the 80s and early 90s--and it was hard to find a goth/punk chick at the time who wasn't reading them, and in all honesty, that's how I got turned onto them. And I lovingly passed L&R on to my daughter.

I suppose you don't realize that "Lugosi's" is a perfectly cromulent contraction for "Lugosi is"?

(I have enjoyed the comic and the band since the 80s!)

Sad but true, I steered away from niche "race identity" comics, except Sandman, because we're both Greek.  Oh and Power Man/Iron FIst, because kid-me was hopeful once.

Los Bros Hernandez would disagree.

And they came first. While Bauhaus was still a thing. And the band readily admits they copped the name from the comic.

a band that stole their name from the Comic book. Daniel Ash as the Hernandez brothers for permission, and got a "well, we'd prefer you didn't"...but they didn't feel like going to court over it.
