For me, Ed Harris will always be defined by the goofy face he makes while dancing in the "Father's Day" segment of Creepshow.

he's always going to be the stressed out, chain smoking frustrated salesman in glengarry glen ross, to me.

Dude has had a whole lot of memorable roles, though!

He and his wife are big smokers... or at least they were..... That will put age on anyone.  I remember i gasped when i first saw Man on a Ledge, where it was the first time i noticed he looked superold, and he was rail thin, too.  He actually looks better than that now, so i presume he may have been going through something health related at the time.

His twin? Not sure which one is the "evil" one?

He was always pretty thin...

He was in a Western in 2013 called Sweetwater, also starring January Jones.  He played an eccentric sheriff.  Not a bad movie, tho he made it much better than it would've been without him.

I recommend State of Grace starring Sean Penn, Gary Oldman, and Ed Harris... Its one of those very good movies that you've probably never seen flicks.  Harris is sorta a Whitey Bulger-type.... leader of a Irish gang. Oldman plays his crazy brother.

Just did a rewatch after finding this on Prime and it's holding up very well. The scene with Harris and the mob boss leaning on him to whack Oldman while Oldman is waiting for the phone call to whack the mob boss is aces.

Brigadier General Francis X. Hummel in The Rock. In a movie full of over the top performances and 'splosions (oh so many 'splosions) Harris throws a little humanity and misguided nobility on screen, while still nomming on some scenery himself.

He's a better aged Peter Weller than Peter Weller.

He is one of those actors that was always good regardless the quality of the movie. I haven't seen everything he has been in but the ones I have he never phoned it in.

It's weird we never got a 'Ed Harris as Rommel' flick/cameo.

I'll always remember him from "Pollock" even though the actress that played his wife in that film stole the show.

I remember seeing "The Third Miracle" at the tiniest theater in San Fran.  Decent film but I felt like I'd paid to to watch it in someone's apartment.

The Germans think Ed Harris is working for them but he's really working for the Allies.  Patrick Stewart shows up and sends him into France to rescue a U.S. Lt. who knows everything about D-Day.    Bit surprised it hit theatres because the presentation screams "Made for TV" but it's an alright 90min.

Loved him in Appaloosa, Pollack, The Right Stuff, and West World S1. Really great actor, always reliably excellent, even in a mediocre project. He don't scare easy...

I wish I hadn't read your description of it but I'll bookmark the Wiki in my "movies/TV shows to watch later" folder, thanks.

Closest he got was playing an expert Nazi sniper in Enemy at the Gates.
