Okay, so the teaser in the commercials happened before the opening credits. Interesting.

Looks like the episode description on IMDB (which I used in the headline) was completely wrong. "Haters gonna hate" was the only official description in the channel guide. Shoulda stuck with that.

Finally caught season 5 and first few episodes of 6 at my last housesitting gig. Summer has become by far my favorite character, even if she accidentally made an incest baby with her brother. I hope the moving ahead on the canon story means they're working on some kind of ending within 1-2 more seasons rather than trying to milk it for as long as possible.

Back in 2018, Cartoon Network signed them up for *70* more episodes. There are MANY seasons left.

Personally, I gave up part-way into season 4. It just became crass for crassness's sake.  The appeal of the first couple of seasons was that it actually had interesting takes on sci-fi tropes, *and* was funny. After that, it was just trying to offend. But in the most juvenile and stupid ways.

Those first 2 seasons are almost all classic, though. And the third season had "Ricklantis Mixup", which is also a classic.

God....damn, I'm not going to make it through all those. I first watched the show as a binge through seasons 1-3, maybe even 4. Harmon does seem like the type to just start phoning it in after securing a generous deal like that (not really a slam, since I've embraced being lazy as a key character trait). The Mr. Nimbus and who pooped in my toilet?! episodes were so goddamn stupid, but the slut dragon one still almost makes me piss myself (especially Shadowjacker).

JEEBUS, this season's writing is tight.  I prepare myself before every episode, and am still blown away. Sooooo good.

Rick reverting to type in the last minute felt really rushed and excessive.  Like him just taking the lumps from his family and letting Jerry take the W would have been off, no way he had THAT much growth, but he went directly from pensively moody keeping it to himself to ruining it.  I kinda get that he said he HAD to share it with someone, ,but he had to know that Morty wasn't going to sit on that either.  I feel like the real story was he could deal with most of them thinking him a decent guy who did Jerry a solid but didn't want to lie to Morty, but if so they could have sold that better.

Same for me. I thought it was a good arc but the ending felt like an unnecessary call back to the shiatshow that is Rick's life. Understandable but having it end on Rick keeping it to himself would have been soooo much better without necessarily impacting the following episodes.
