Didn't seem all that instant.

I'mma give the guy credit, he at least sold something tangible.

Instant karma may get you, but reading a quarter mile long article in hopes of discovering said karma will kill you of old age first

Taking a P-51 on a short, wild ride to suicide isn't Instant Karma, it's getting out before the pain starts.

That was a fun read.  Pyramid schemes never end because nothing sells better than dreams of easy riches.

Started his scam in 1964.

Died in 1973.

Not exactly "instant karma"

... As Patrick performed tricks over his Clear Lake ranch, witnesses saw the plane go into a sharp dive. It smashed into a ridge at speed, obliterating the plane and killing both men on impact. Patrick was 43.

In the ranch, his wife, Marie, discovered a secret room hidden behind some wine racks. Inside was $480,000 in cash. Written on an envelope were the words: "In the event anything happens to WPP, give to Marie."

Death seemed to only accelerate the deluge of legal trouble.

Dude faked his death. No way he's leaving a room full of cash to his wife and a note if anything happens to me without a plan.

Timing is so perfect.

Yeah. Not very instant. But he was only 43. So that's something.

It always makes me happy when rich pricks die, especially when they die young. Because they always seem to live for-farking-ever. Goddamn Trump is gonna make it to 105.

I have a *tiny* bit more sympathy for a gullible rube in 1967, where you didn't have access to every search engine and every message board ever and the sad tales of a million rubes before you, all available in your freaking pocket to figure out that a con is a con.  It takes a more willful ignorance in 2022, but that hasn't stopped much.

2022 has "influencers" bombarding people 24/7 and sophisticated con artists employing Matt Damon and Tom Brady to pound their scams into their brains.

So it's a wash.
