If we make sure the tenants are of light build and relatively sedentary, and if the weather's on our side, I think we have a winner here.

mistahtom: But the world isn't overpopulated 🙄

It probably isn't. The problems we have are mostly distribution problems, and economic problems.

We could feed the world fairly easily, and provide plenty of power to everyone, *and* do it without polluting too much, if any of that was "profitable".

Basically, greed is *the* issue that threatens the world/society/humanity/whatever. It's hard to overcome.

That said, there are hard limits on how many people we can support, but we aren't really close to them. It's just that we *waste* so much stuff, because it is profitable to do so, and greedy corporations generally can't bring themselves to do anything with unsold product besides throwing it away.

Depends on what you mean by overpopulated, if you mean by natural terms, yeah, there are way too many humans, organic farming only? we could feed about 4 billion people.  With modern agriculture, you can bump that up to 20 billion or so.

Greed has a redeeming quality, it drives efficiency, people are more motivated when they've got skin in the game.  You remove it from the equation and you end up with people standing in line for bread.  That's just the law of unintended consequences.

When it comes to distributing food to the world, it's not so much about greed, it's political instability.  The food we're throwing away could just as easily be donated, it's just that the leaders in starving parts of the world throw the food away, or worse, sell it and buy weapons.

Well, I wouldn't become a Freemason now if you went down on your lousy stinking knees and begged me.

Actually, years ago I was at the DC Hash House Harriers "Red Dress Run" and the final food/drink party was held at a Masonic hall.    One of the masons did try to recruit me on the way out.

They're all delicious.  I'm a vegetarian for all practical purposes, but I love sausage.  I also would have loved to drink myself to death before I was 30, and I was working on it, but somehow I overcame that.  See, it's called impulse control. We all have to have impulse control, or we will eat ourselves to death while raping various animal species.  And then there's that little matter of life on earth.  See, we can't just DO anything we want, all the time, or it's really bad for us.
And here we are, at the end of that.
