Is this the new Benghazi??  I thought Hunter's laptop was the new Benghazi.  Can they do two at once?  Do they have sufficient outrage to support simultaneous tantrums?

I can see it already -- spend millions and millions on pointless, fruitless hearings while completely ignoring any real problems the country faces, because...reasons, while simultaneously complaining that there's no money for things like healthcare or education.  IOW, same-old, same-old for the GQP.

How can so many people be so stupid and so cruel?

The same rules Trump had are still in place, except for the separation of kids from their parents.  There is no "border crisis", nor is the border "wide open".  Anybody who says so is a complete and total moron.

This is going to backfire greatly on them.  The Benghazi hearings happened during a solid economy, so most people didn't think too much about it.

These new hearings will happen with inflation on the high side and general uncertainties for the economy. The "independents" that voted R in 2022 due to inflation are going to be fuming at the house morons they helped elect. I hope they reflect on their 2022 voting decisions when 2024 comes around.

Tell you what, Quevin: Introduce a bill to disband DHS and return the agencies back to their pre-9/11 homes. Do away with the Secretary of Homeland Security. Go in, do it. I'd be telling my Congressman and two Senators to support that.

It would be nice if the House spent its time fixing the immigration laws and appropriate adequate resources so the Executive branch has the tools to actually manage crises effectively.

They're also starting to call for Wray's resignation for something or other. Let them continue with that. Force Trump's pick out of the top spot at the FBI and let Joe nominate someone who has to be confirmed by a Dem-controlled Senate for a decade. That'll really stick it to the libs.

Bonus points if he asks Val Demmings to take that spot. She's out of a job now and a former police chief with federal government experience.

Which is the secondary reason that they will do it. The primary reason is to hurt democracy, but wasting time is pleasing to them too. They like to say that the government is broken, and then break it.

It always happens when a large group of people refuse to listen to any contrary opinions, create an isolated bubble for themselves within which they all think the same way, and then within this bubble constantly egg each other on to greater and greater extremes.

The GOP House majority in the 118th Congress will force a Government shutdown and require the resignation of Garland as part of their negotiations.

They'll also refuse to re-authorize the defense bill with stipulations that no more aid be sent to Ukraine.

There *is* a border crisis. A shiat-load of people are trying to cross the border and we're not processing them properly. Republicans would have you believe it's a World War Z horde overrunning everything and the only solution is to build a wall and shoot them as they approach. A better solution would be to to both better understand why they're coming here, fix that, and properly process them. These are people who *want* to be here and we are not doing an adequate job of helping them.

The third response under this tweet is probably as close to an answer as you're gonna get. Modern American society is based on wealth equals worth. Modern American capitalism is based on exploitation and oppression. So, we plebs tend to view the worst among us the most worthy and well, their shiatty behavior trickles down to the worst among us.

I'd be wary of these investigations. Instead of treating them like the popularity slam dunks we're thinking they are, don't forget that the right is very adept at slinging shiat at walls and getting some of it to stick. They're going scorched earth on Democratic Representatives and voters because they have nothing to solve our actual problems.

Good, the more idiotic the House investigations the better. Its only red meat for the mouth breathers who will vote R no matter what. It's only going to alienate moderate Republicans who will hopefully stay home in 2024 and energize Democrats to get out the vote.

I'm actually looking forward to two years of hyperventilating over hunter biden's St. Patrick's day party, dragging random
school teachers before congress to grill them over CRT, sheer panic over store clerks who say happy holidays, etc.
