He's just waiting for Uncle Joe to say "I ain't running."

/which he isn't

2022-11-26 12:11:59 PM
Biden will be the nominee.

2022-11-26 1:27:24 PM
Newsom will run in 28

2022-11-26 1:27:54 PM
Because the last thing we need is a younger Biden.

2022-11-26 1:28:50 PM
So in other words...

Newsom will Biden his time!

Newsom is a sure loser if he runs.

2022-11-26 1:37:04 PM
i like uncle joe but the man is 80 YO right now. which is too old to be running the country. i hope somebody does challenge him running again.

there needs to be an age cap on the presidency. be 35-65 on inauguration day, period.

Genuinely interested in your take, if you're willing to give it.

I wish the Dems would run someone younger and less dependent on physical reminders for interactions but I would speculate Biden will run again and most likely will win again but the D party needs to amp up their voters. The midterm results were way, way closer than they should have been in the current political climate.

"My guy is better than your evil nazi guy" is an unfortunate play but here we are.

I agree with you, but I also think being an incumbent is such a huge advantage, that it's the safest bet in terms of avoiding a Trump or DeSantis.

I'd prefer someone younger and/or more liberal absolutely, but when the alternative is fascism, I'll take the best odds of winning.

2022-11-26 1:40:54 PM
I think Gretchen Whitmer should run, maybe she could be the woman to finally break through.

sinner4ever: Because the last thing we need is a younger Biden.

I dunno. I realize that incrementalism is almost as bad as fascism in some circles, but one thing people have pointed out is that Biden has always known where the center of the Democratic Party is, and has always moved to that position. The party has moved leftward, and he campaigned on and attempted to pass some pretty hefty progressive-leaning legislation. Had to cut most of it due to the almost perversly perfect alignment of Manchin and Sinema (stuff Manchin would accept, but Sinema wouldn't, and vice-versa). If they hadn't been such tools, some incredible stuff was in there. I don't think Biden has forgotten that the most active people in the Party want it. If Newsome is like Biden in that way, that's no bad thing. If the last election tells us anything, it's that freaking out the normies is not always a winning move.

A Hispanic version of Obama would be pretty sweet, though I think if Biden chooses to step aside Pete B. has the inside run. I know he's white, and a dude, and seems like mayonaise, but he's shockingly good at connecting with people. He verbally jukes Fox hosts out of their socks like it's nothing.

We deserve serious politicians who focus on actual solutions to actual issues.

I really love the idea of Big Gretch running. Hillary won the popular vote, which is proof people will vote for a woman. Then add in that unlike Hillary, Gretchen doesn't have extra Clinton baggage. And she's a good Midwest down to earth nominee, unlike a west coast elitist like Newsom, and will hold that blue wall in PA-MI-WI.

She's a big reason why Michigan has turned a solid blue and she could do that for the rest of the country.

It isn't the age that matters, it is what time they are mentally living in. Biden and Newsom are living in the 90's when Democrats loved Reaganism and Wall Street. Newsom even looks like Gordon Gecko.
We are at a time with the largest wealth inequality in our history. Where a moron is the richest man and can kill a multi-billion dollar company on a whim. Neither Biden and Newsom have the guts or the will to do what is really necessary.

I'll do it. He sucks.
He is a good politician though. He watches, he waits to see which way the parade is going,

I've lived with him as a mayor, Lt. Governor, and Governor, I'll be damned if I'll vote for that bloated greasy pile of crap for President.

Newsom already has a challenging high-status job. He has systematically moved from mayor, to lieutenant governor, to governor. If, and it's a big if, he decides to run for the office of President sometime down the road, he will have the experience and qualifications necessary to do the job. He's not some jumped up TV blockhead, or anybody's idea of a radical fringe nut job. I can't imagine why he'd want to be president, but he's prepared and qualified.

The idea of a non white male straight candidate sounds good before the primaries, but during the primary season, liberal voters tend to get intimidated by the likes of Cletus Confederate belching and bellowing about to where they'll go with the safest option - which would probably be Newsom in 2028. Although since CA is the bane of every right winger's existence, they may be gunning for him extra hard.

We heard that same excuse for not putting Warren as VP. How does your corporate donor backed VP look?
It seems she has made herself look worse than Biden and he has a lower approval rating than Trump at the same point in his Presidency.

The false equivalence is a pervasive one in society, and must be mocked. There are many times in life where we must choose the lesser of two evils. What we need to do is get rid of undemocratic policies such as the Senate, the Electoral College, and gerrymandering. Then the country can start progress properly.

The only way to get those things done is to elect Democrats, even if maybe they're too old, or not liberal enough. They will at least be forwarding democracy while the GOP will be tirelessly trying to destroy it.

We can not be apathetic, and that's what the false equivalence leads to.

So you will vote Republican no matter what?

Because thanks to our primary system, you don't get a choice unless you live in certain states.

Would vote for Warren, but no one else will vote for her.
