Thanks.

It was an enjoyable 45 minutes

They gave Mantis an actual personality and I guess they didn't want to spend the time/money painting Drax's chest.

But it was a cute show

I'm pretty sure I read it was made at the same time as GotG III, so you'd think that sets and CGI would be budgeted, but maybe not so much a few hours in a makeup chair.  Then again, I know very little about how movie/TV production goes.

NO. No crossover.  Unless it's done purely as a comedy and uses throwaway characters like Squirrel Girl vs. Batmite.

All we now know that Go Bots are canon in the MCU so I hope they roll with that.

Or the entire roster of characters from Star Wars episodes 7-9.

With Bacon's adoption into the MCU, playing a fictional version of himself who apparently has the same IMDB entries, we can follow everyone's Bacon number and more or less establish that the base MCU world is what it appears to be - the Earth we live on with a few extra things tacked on that didn't make a real difference to anything until the Chitauri invaded.

So it's possible that most of the humans in the MCU have seen the original and prequel Star Wars movies as well as all the Star Trek movies up to and including the 2009 Kelvin timeline reboot.  And they may even have an opinion over various Federation vs. Empire/Republic match ups.

So in terms of a 'crossover'... the Star Wars movies are just movies in the MCU and there's nothing to cross over with.  Mark Hamill out front shoulda told ya.

I haven't watched it yet, but my guess is that it was a conscious choice to emulate the low budget of television holiday specials of yore, particularly the infamous SW holiday special.

It also fits with some of the jokes on She Hulk regarding television budgets.

My only problem, which was just a minor inconvenience was that Groot sometimes looked like a guy in a suit, which actually works if it's an ode to the 70's

I thought that too.  But Rocket was 100% CG so why would they go with practical costume effects for Groot when they're already doing CG for Rocket?  Or maybe it was a mix of both - closeups of Groot were a costume and wide shots CG?

I think it was definitely a combination. You can tell his arms were practical when Quill gave him his gift, while the head always looked CG to me.

And overall Groot was wider, but not as tall, as grown-up Groot from GotG 1, like he had to be to accommodate a person in a costume.

Why not? Canon? SW canon was irretrievably farked up by the guy who created it decades ago now. Just don't watch shiat you don't want to watch

Bugger off. Squirrel Girl saved the world from Galactus and slips into Deadpool's DMs on the reg.

Never mind that, the difference between a throwaway joke and a decent character is the writing.  Squirrel Girl is interesting and fun and absolutely the MCU could get away with making a Squirrel Girl movie.  Hell, they've done comedy, spy thriller, horror, action, and drama.  SG could easily be the first young adult romcom entry (I don't think She-Hulk counts since ultimately the series wasn't about Jenn finding love but about becoming happy with herself).

I'd absolutely watch something that's like "Adventures in Babysitting" mixed with "Date Night" and a bit of superhero conflict mixed in.

Shouldn't Ms. Marvel have been that?  I didn't watch that one but the source material would kinda demand it.

// Obviously G-rated rom-com because of the ages of the characters in that.

There was some dating stuff in it, but it wasn't even a B plot.  It was mostly about Pakistani history and being a girl raised by Muslim parents in the US... with transdimensional aliens trying to destroy the world, of course.
