I've heard of the place, they're supposed to be one of the best BBQ places in the city.

Mahomes' restaurant of choice is Whataburger; he got them to open in KC and he owns or will own about 10-15 of them.

MizzouGuy: Mahomes' restaurant of choice is Whataburger;

He's a hometown hero here, I didn't know about his love of Whataburger but that might explain all of their signage at times, and to be fair, lots of other marquees.  He's doing better for us than Johnny Manziel ever dreamed of while drunk and asleep.  Alright Pat!

Whataburger...*shudder*...Wait, nevermind - I was thinking of Wahlburger...*shudder*

As to the story, buried is the tidbit where Mahomes indirectly saved his restaurant -- it was sort of implied he directly did something. Either way, now I want BBQ at 330 AM.

He's not the first KC QB to save a restaurant business.   Joe Montana was the talk of the town for two seasons at the end of his career, and he bought a couple of failed steakhouses and rebranded them something like Montana steakhouses, which were very successful for a few years after he was there.   It was awhile ago, so my facts are fuzzy about it.

As someone who's just cooked a load of ribs Kansas style, I am most definitely getting a kick out of these replies.

No molasses in my sauce though, as they're hard to get here.

/isn't black treacle in the UK the same as molasses?
//don't think I can get black treacle here, either.
///treacle sounds like trio, which how slashies should be served on Fark

Black treacle and molasses are the same thing, though there are slight flavor differences.

Brown sugar is an acceptable substitute. Something like a dark muscovado sugar will work since it has a higher molasses content.

I use san'ontou, which I think is soft brown sugar in English.

iat works well enough. I try to keep the sweetness down anyway, though I do add a little honey as well.

"It's already like just the most slam-packed that's ever been," said Bowen. "We were far, far beyond the fire code."

I assume there's a statute of limitations for violating fire codes.

My Mexican friends do that, but then again they order the wrong shiat at black owned rib and chicken joints.

...how?

You identify all the menu items with "Mama's" in the name and order those.

Fire Marshal probably has to see it in person.

Guessed it was a BBQ joint. I wonder if he calls the cut of beef a K.C. strip instead of N.Y. strip. That would be awesome.

/ Suck it, New Yorkers; the BBQ off of your fingers that is.
