So when are they pointing that thing at Proxima Centauri b to see if the lights are on?

Imagine being able to fly around out there, at speeds to give the size of the object movement.

I hope someday we have some way to capture it all, process it, and we just slap on the VR Oakleys and do just that.

Proxima Centauri b is doing that thing where they turn out all the lights, draw all the curtains, and hope those freak Earthlings will go away

The Trisolarians are afraid. And they better be because we big bad humans will wipe them out if we get the chance.

I have a shiny metal marble on my table that thinks otherwise.

Space Engine will do that. Pretty sure there's a VR mod.

You start to get a good idea of how big things are after you've started moving at 300,000 x speed of light.

Finding a black hole at the galaxy center is kind of hard. You have to slam on the brakes once you're near or you'll blow right by. You slow down to only a few dozen times speed of light and eventually come to the center and seeing the closest stars being flung around at relativistic speeds. The event horizon is huge but the actual ball of mass isn't that big. Relatively speaking.

Wow, ten months ago? These mixed nuts were telling about Webb observations before Webb was making observations. Also those artificial lights would have to be pretty farking bright to be seen from four light years away. Did these bozos have an explanation why it never made the nightly news.

Well we didn't have the JWST up until now, and they've tasked it with taking pictures of everything BUT Proxima Centauri b.  Wasn't one of the tasks of this thing to take pictures of exoplanets?  That's the closest candidate.
