Why in flying pasta reason would desantis offer any protection to a political opponent? The commentator doesn't understand how someone with narcissist personality disorder acts. Burn it all down before admitting error thinking

Bit late to endorse somebody after the Election is over and won without you and your useless stamp of apprval.

Yet another way Trump just doesn't get how politics works, not to mention the Constitution, the Law and the Courts.

Being Bebe Rebozo doesn't place you above justice doesn't save you from Watergate. It just gets you into Nixon's bed, for the Love of Dick.

I actually have been thinking about this a while. There is a lot of democratic somewhat wishful thinking that if trump loses the party in 2024 he will go independent and form the MAGA party or whatever, when it's probably more likely he just cuts a back room deal to support desantis in exchange for a day one blanket pardon.

Meh. If Desantis wins the primary and then the general I could totally seeing him pardoning Trump just for the sake of fascism... no matter how ugly Trumps attacks become.

Trump is going to become America's Mao in that situation.

Can't stand him or his policies but can't refute him or he'll sick his army of brainwashed freaks at you.

And you better believe I DRTFA... yanno, because the Daily Fail is offensive to my religion and general sense of reality/morality.

We should light Trump and DeSantis on fire. .... as a way of proving God's favor, of course.

I wonder if they're already in cahoots to be each other's running mate

Oh we won't have to do that. The Republican base will.

This is going to turn into the WWE equivalent of right wing politics on the national stage and sides will be taken.

They already are.

And these fans like to actively participate in the spectacle violently as they prove over and over again.

The ideal situation that I'm hoping for is that Trump, DeSantis, and at least one other hog candidate, like maybe Pompeo lead to a brokered convention.  In this perfect scenario, Trump would be entering the convention with the most delegates, but short of a majority.  However, since his supporters are bad at math, they would insist that the party has to choose him because he has the "most", and they will refuse to even entertain the idea that someone who starts the convention in second or third place could somehow end up as the winner.  Thus when Pompeo's delegates switch to DeSantis, making DeSantis the nominee, Trump's supporters claim the whole thing is rigged and enough of them stay home in December to let the Democrats win in a landslide.

TFG wouldn't even endorse John Barron, John Miller or David Dennison

Republicans don't understand much, but one of the things they do get is falling in line.

As the gospels more or less stipulate, let those among us who've never sucked a Florida governor's cock for simple political reasons cast the first stone here.

DeSantis is the marionette of a very wealthy powerful man. He doesn't need D. Trump.

Donnie One Term the kid at the playground that would break all of his own toys just to keep another kid from trying to play with them.

If he loses the primary, he won't be able to shut up about how mistreated he is and how the guy that won is a poopbutt jerkface.

If Desantis beats Trump then Desantis doesn't owe Trump anything because Trump is a liability which is why he lost.

If Desantis becomes president Trump is still a liability and if he tries to kill Trump prosecution he could  be impeached. Sure he can slow it down but not throw it out. Desantis  wouldn't want to hurt his reelection chances.

Trump may just be looking at a pardon in 8 years by which time he will probably be dead.

That would be the way a rational person would do it. Trump is a narcissist - he NEVER forgets or forgives a slight.

And the state charges? What about the state charges?

If DeSantis wins, he could pardon Trump and then make him the ambassador to North Korea.

Because if there's two things Donald Trump is known for, it's being gracious in defeat and putting the good of others ahead of his own feelings.

And we also haven't exactly seen DeSantis be a model of grace, humility and forgiveness....if Trump showed ANY weakness, DeSantis is gonna use him as an example to the base and knock him off the radar.

DeSantis is studying Trump and adjusting messaging - and Trump doesn't adjust or change his messaging.

I loathe Desanstis, but not gonna lie - watching these two fight for King of the Inbreds and Trump getting ousted by his own creation is going to be popcorn worthy.

I love your optimism.  And there is a non-zero chance that it is warranted.  That is a plausible scenario.

Which, in turn, will be the quickest way to for DerpSantis to torch his political career on the national level (don't think he has national appeal anyway) so win/win.

Trump does not ever make any deal where he can't get what he wants and then screw the other guy by reneging on his end. The proposed deal can never happen because it's the exact reverse of that.

I'd pay a lot for the video of Donald Trump begging DeSantis for a pardon IF DeSantis wins the Republican nomination.

Not quite sure why the "Unlikely" tag is in play here. Because if it comes down to this for Trump, in order to save his ass, he'd do it. Hell yes he would.

DeSanctimonious, (despite his own liabilities) would be foolish to treat Trump as anything more than a political opponent. Because Trump would farkin' gut him if the shoe were on the other foot.

Not to mention, you do something for Trump, and he's gonna come back for more. You are nothing but a mark to him at that point. And you'll never get rid of him. Stank. It's called Trump Stank.

Except his biggest concerns are State investigations that might revel that he isn't a billionaire.  Treason, etc doesn't mean anything to donnie, just the bucks.

That would be nice. It's going to take a landslide to retain control of the Senate.

I don't/can't see that happening, Tя☭mp doesn't share. Remember 'two scoops of ice cream' for him and only one for everybody else? He can't live knowing anyone someone else is equal to or above him. He will refuse to be seen as anything lesser, he MUST be the top dog or he destroys the dog park.

On second thought, I shouldn't compare something as good as dogs to the deplorables, but you get my drift.

I think the context is that TFG would endorse DeSantis to help with the general election if TFG loses to DeSantis in the primaries.

Your comment about the useless stamp of approval is still valid.

I could see DeSantis offering a pardon as some "healing the nation gesture."

That said, I could also see the entire party go coo-coo for DeSantopuffs just as they had for . . . <sudden amnesia> . . . . who? Trump? Never heard of him. This would allow DeSantis to put the screws to TFG to solidify his position as the anointed holy one.

Not in his first term. It would do him more harm than good for his re-election to make such a partisan-stooge kind of move.

I'm still not buying the whole "can't indict someone running for President" thing. That would just be an excuse for not having the balls to indict him at all. If it's true then I'll turn in my paperwork to the FEC and rob a bank on the way.
