Fifty kya isn't all that long a period of time. I'd be careful with it none the less. We're going to start finding out just how many of these cryo-viruses are able to infect modern humans pretty soon once the permafrost melts. The ones I'm worried about are the smallpox viruses from the 19th and early 20th centuries. Nice thing if it does make a comeback we should be able to whip up a vaccine pretty quickly and that's when the rubber will hit the road with the anti-vax idiots.
