OtherLittleGuy: Interesting how Bartlett would deal with the GQP, an entity he could not shame into submission nor back down from his umbrage.


I susect that he would have lost the first few rounds, but then come out with a systematic dismantling in a televised debate.

Some combination of his "when the President stands, NOBODY sits" and "give me the next ten words, and I'll drop out right now"

The only reason we have them at all is a combination of an incredibly unlikable Democratic candidate, significant numbers of Progressive protest votes in swing states, and our stupid Electoral College system. Only one of those would have been an issue with Bartlett. He would have carried the primary and general in 2016 handily.

It's typical of the first five seasons.  Then NBC agreed to renew only if showrunner Aaron Sorkin wasn't part of the deal so he left.  It was pretty good after that, but not great.
