I've been swarmed by wild turkeys in my car.

The danger is real

My wife was mobbed by Rainbow Lorikeets just yesterday, but she did have a container of sunflower seed in her lap at the time.

One time, I had one near my house. I think it must have escaped from somewhere that was raising it. It was not afraid of people at all. It would chase bicyclists and joggers and even cars. It would stand in the middle of the road and stop traffic. It's beak was right at my face height. I was afraid of it. They have a big, mean looking beak. Eventually it ran off to join a group of wild turkeys. Good riddance.

Chiricahua National Monument
September 18 2022
When the Visitor Center just closed but you need to get your passport stamp...
It's September and the Wild Turkeys are out in full force! Groups of up to 30 individuals have been spotted in the monument almost every day. The turkeys we see here are Gould's, the largest subspecies of Wild Turkey. When they see their reflection, they can mistake it for a rival bird and try to pick a fight. These birds weren't always plentiful here. They were hunted to local extinction in the early 1900s, but made a comeback in the 1990s when conservation groups reintroduced them into the wild. It was a massive success story!

My neighbor had one and let it roam free because he's an ass. One day it met me halfway down my driveway as I left for work. It didn't attack, but walked with me making that chest thump they do.

I spent much more time than I should have making him gobble because that never stopped being funny.

Turkeys go hunting all the time. They're just not usually the kind of turkeys with feathers.
