The vote was unanimous, both for Verlander and for Alcantara in the NL. That hasn't happened since 1968, if memory serves. A rare year.

Way to go, Justin. I hope you and the 'Stros come to your senses and get back together for the future of the city.

Yeah, the Astros entire pitching staff is pretty scary. It was fun to stumble into the World Series and make the first few games competitive.

At least the Phillies had some dingers off of Verlander whereas Valdez was nigh untouchable.

Congrats on the Cy Young, Justin. It also appears that your wife is a pretty rabid fan and that's cool as hell.

Well, Jim Crane is potentially in trouble regarding Verlander's contract.

*also the Yankees and Mets are being investigated for collusion regarding Aaron Judge

There was a graphic about that yesterday:  '68 was Denny McClain and Bob Gibson; a Tiger and a Cardinal.  This year was Verlander and Alcantrana; a former Tiger and a former Cardinal.

I don't think the issue is either of them not being in their right minds. JV knows that he's worth way more than $25 million on the open market, so he may well intend to re-sign in Houston - he's just going to test the waters to make sure that he gets paid in line with his performance (which was "best pitcher in MLB" this year.)

And similar to Subby's butt hurt, Denny was nowhere in the post season and Mickey Lolich won pitched 3 games for the Tigers in that series.
