That doesn't matter as much, because you're older. Older than you might think. Age IS a factor. My throwing off COVID at 50 is NOT your 67. My daughter's three COVID cases while in her 20s--she works in nursing--is not your  67. And be thankful that you had the vaccination, which likely is going to mitigate some of the severity.

It's endemic now. We're all gonna get it eventually.

Be glad you didn't get it pre-vaccination, Shoop Da Whoop.

Stupid rapid tests. Sorry, Whoops. We still on for Saturday?

Some people, for reasons they're barely beginning to understand, are super resistant, and others super-vulnerable.  The Derps spin this as vaccines meaning nothing, but in actuality, that still affects both how sick you get and also how often, even if with them you still could get it three or four times.   Also. new revelations are out there that the super-resistors may STILL be getting it, they just tend towards being totally being asymptomatic.

I haven't gotten it & if I have to walk around for the rest of my life in an astronaut's helmet I'll do it to avoid getting Covid. I have asthma, plus it causes brain damage among other things & I don't need that.

On the flip side, I got COVID before there was a vaccine. Since the vaccine was available, I've gotten all of the shots and boosters, including the new one. I've traveled a bunch, including internationally, attended plenty of indoor events like concerts, and have yet to get COVID again. I credit the vaccine.

I'm avoiding it like the plague too, and am already adorned with multiple disabilities. I sure AF don't need any of that business either. I'm just not operating under the assumption that I've got anywhere near a 100% chance of avoiding it.

/maybe if i did the bubble boy thing i'd have a reasonable shot at it

Ive had more vax shots than my razor has blades for the smoothest shave.

My wife and I and our two sons, 9 and 7, have never tested positive, despite the kids being in school half time starting in spring 2021 and full time since fall 2021, summer day camp, birthday parties, after school park camps, etc. We're all vaccinated, but we need to get the kids their bivalent boosters. They've brought colds home since school went maskless, and I think the 7 year old had the RSV going around last week, but zero positive Covid tests. We've probably tested the kids a dozen times each, if not more, in the last 18 months.

"It was a shock, because I'm triple vaxxed, I haven't been anywhere, I haven't done anything," Goldberg said.

Uh, was she at work prior to getting sick? Does she live alone? Was she wearing a N95 caliber mask every single time she was in the vicinity of others? Does she know that social distancing isn't a hard and fast rule and that Covid can linger in the air? Does she not understand that the vaccine doesn't provide 100% protection from contracting it? How are people still this dense about how Covid actually spreads?

Unless she's been hibernating alone in a cave on a remote island for the past month this isn't surprising.

I've had it twice since being vaxxed and twice boosted. The last time was disgusting. I'm getting the new booster as soon as I can.

My wife is an ICU nurse and somehow we have still avoided getting it. I guess she is real good about following the protocols at work. One of my sons still insists on wearing a mask everywhere. I am not sure what good that does as the rest of us gave that up a while ago.

Whoopi gave herself her name because of her gassiness.  Like a Whoopee Cushion.

Maybe she farted COVID back at herself, like the Giulani Effect on Jenna Ellis.

This generally happens with other diseases as well. We simply been testing more for covid than pretty much anything else in human history so we see more outliers.

You mean you have yet to test positive again? B/c you can have it & never have a symptom but still be able to transmit it. That's one of the most terrifying parts of the virus to me.

This is just your survivor's bias; but I mostly posted to ask you to please not say anything to your son that belies how little you think of his efforts to protect himself & others when he's in a demographic that typically fails at that. Replace 'mask' w/ 'condom' or 'seatbelt' & tell me how you'd feel about it.
Or have you already teased him about it & then told him you're just joking so he wouldn't be as hurt about his dad's low opinion?

I am vaxxed and double boosted.  Had COVID in July 2021 after the first two jabs.  It was like a moderate cold but with a mild fever and aches for a few days and lost of taste and smell for 5 days.

I still wear a mask indoors if there are more than just a couple people in a spread out area.

Yes, but I still test several times a month for work related stuff and ahead of travel.

No, we don't bother him about it. I am a "guard rail" parent. As long as they don't go off the cliff and seem to be headed the right general direction, I let them control themselves. I should note that they are in their teens, I wouldn't try that with little kids.

Have gotten it twice so far, Delta august 2021 and omicron (I presume) this past July.  Fully vaxxed and boostered....

50's and I have had all the available shots including the recent bivalent. Never had it to my knowledge but we all know you can have it and not know. I can say for sure I have not had any respiratory concerns that lasted even more than a day over the last three years. I still mask in indoor settings aside from my lightly attended workplace. I mask at the grocery store or if I go into a restaurant for takeout. I mask at the airport and on planes. I've probably tested 20 times since it started - half a dozen pcr's and a bunch of self tests. I reckon I will just keep doing this potentially for as long as forever. There's nothing political about it to me I just think it's a scary virus and I'm no spring chicken. If the mask has kept me from getting it I'll just keep wearing the mask and boost annually. I've been getting flu shots since they started offering them so another one annually is just not a big deal to me. Even if this thing disappears from the earth I might mask in crowds simply because masks seem to work well against the cold and flu too and I hate being sick. I realize to some I am shiatting on the people who died for my freedoms  but so be it.

Probably kept her out of the hospital and/or the morgue.

At 70, even with a robust immune system, I give it all the help I can.  Vaccines are wargames for your immune system.

I tested positive for it on Sunday, and I just got my Bivariant booster last weekend.  My symptoms have been very mild, so I can't complain.

Smart. My sister was in hospital with long COVID symptoms last week. Nasty. To be avoided. I'm talking about the hospital thing. I'm in one now with AFib and I can tell you from very recent and very personal experience that modern medicine, while safe, effective and rational, is awful to experience. There were times I almost began to understand why people would choose fairy dust, magic potions and that classic favourite, literal plain water sold by quacks just because it's so much easier to endure.

My own most recent personal experience with the UK ambulance service happened back in 2021. I can say that with confidence, because it was on my 42nd birthday. I was in the shower, and I felt something in my back just go. I spent the rest of the day trying to act normal, but the day ended with me face down on the floor, imagining that maybe it will sort itself out.

The next morning, I ended up in an ambulance to Aberdeen's A&E, and it was still farking agony to be carted into the ambulance even with 10 mg of morphine in me.

Sciatica ate up about five months of my life last year.

all of these stories of people doing nothing wrong and still getting the virus worry me, since I don't go inside anywhere and try to avoid people but it seems that might not be enough.

and then you realize that this person has been around a crapton of other people, I"m assuming she works on a tv set?

fark me.
