It's a shame we lost Chris Farley. He'd kick ass as a super hero.

Because it's a comic book movie. Almost all of the humanoid characters who aren't old or obese are hot.

I tried imagining that same article if the writer was male and the MCU character was female.

That description may be a little generous.  Jason Momoa's acquaman is better than Manuel Chavez's namor.

Pretty much everyone in MCU is hot. The Chris's outside should have told you.

For kids.

Grownups with opinions about comics (not comix, big diff) have issues.

Plastic wrapped, acid free backing, issues.

Why are all the villains in Black Panther movies so smokin' hot?

You should probably ask the casting department.

What....brown people can't be hot? Villains can't be sexy? gtfo.

Maybe next time rephrase the question into a statement: There's a lot of eye candy in the Black Panther movies and I'm enjoying the hell out of it. Then end with a Deadpoolesque "I'm touching myself tonight".

Can we talk about how much Namor sucks? A 1940s hold over that never should have made it to prime Stan Lee/Jack Kirby Marvel. His personality is nonexistent. He's boring as fark. That they are using him in this movie highlights the Marvel villain problem - he's not even a villain and he's a shiatty shoehorn into being a bad guy. This is by far their tentpole-iest movie all year and this is the best they could do? A guy with magic feet.

Seeing this tonight and don't have high hopes. I really liked Boseman in Civil War and the first movie but between his loss and Namor, I am not looking forward to it.

I think one of the funny parts of that is that compared to comics Namor, he's dressed outright conservatively.

I think if you read him as simply a "bad guy," then you may have missed a major point of the movie. He wasn't bad. At best, he was a person placed in opposing circumstances, and he also won in virtually every sense of the word. He got exactly what he wanted.

Namor was one of my favorite parts of this movie because like Killmonger he wasn't 100% wrong about everything.. The character has a history and I thought they portrayed this in an interesting light without being Black Panther: the way of water

Namor is in fact kind of a complicated guy, because he just doesn't align to the standard hero/villain dynamic. Namor's interests are his own. In the movie you admit you haven't seen, his culture exists as a response to Western Imperialism. He's not worried about the environment, which is usually a big part of his characterization.

Another highlight is that the ending sequence is NOT a pure CGI sequence. They have a slow and brutal fight sequence that's very easy to follow. It's a big change of pace compared to, say, Ant-Man vs. Yellowjacket or Panther vs. Killmonger.

Pretty much all of the heroes and villains in the MCU (and the DCU) are hot.  In fact, you could generalize it further to say that most actors and actresses are hot.

Surprise! Hollywood likes good looking people in its movies.

Not necessarily.  There are plenty of actors who aren't good looking. Actresses less so but they exist too

And still the vast majority of major characters/actors are quite good looking, outside really old people and fat men (which are generally limited to comedic roles).

So that busted-looking daddy thing really appeals to some people, huh? I didn't find either of the primary villains as attractive as the male protagonists in Black Panther movies.

However, there wasn't a single unattractive woman in those movies. They were all varying degrees of hotness.

Yeah but Hollywood has a lot of dramas and as you say comedies that often don't require attractive people. Comic book movies don't have that.

I'm a fan of Mr Bilbo Baggins in general, but I don't see how any person could say he's more attractive physically than Tenoch Huerta.

Different strokes for different folks I guess.

Yes, our media culture that's dominated by the straight male gaze is far more tolerant of busted dudes in movies than busted chicks in movies. I wonder why.
