AP only wants you to think they are neutral.  They are not.

The choice is write an article about "why my predictions fell flat at the midterms" or alternatively "of course I'm right, and here are some sketchy arguments why I"m always right". The first choice is about honesty, the second is about anything from bullshiat to full-blown narcisism, judge for yourself.

Clicking the link doesn't deliver the article so we can't actually analyse his bullshiat analysis, but safe to say it's bullshiat.

The punditverse has been taking flack since Wednesday morning for ignoring the 5 elephants in the room wearing judge's robes in order to keep the "Big Red Wave" narrative going. They have to spin this as doom and gloom or people will start tuning them out.

"Outperformed expectations" = beat the lowered expectations by shiatty polls.

Remember when Fark was greening Michael Moore statements of a Democratic blowout? Democrats underperformed his expectations.

It's obvious the Democrats' success this past Tuesday is part of Trump's rope-a-dope strategy which will result in a 2024 victory and ZE REICH VILL LAST A SOUZAND YEEARZ!

Dems are in disarray. What about Hunter Biden? What does Hillary have on the voters in Arizona? Why isn't someone looking at the massive fraud in Pennsylvania? Obama gave speeches - I thought he retired? What kind of power does Joe Biden have over a retired black man? I'm just asking questions here.

If Dems had taken the senate, Biden would have been f*cked!

I guess the writer of TFA has written about this being bad for Biden so he doesn't have to be writing yet another article about how this is demonstrably bad for Trump and the GOP knives are out after Trump-backed candidates ruined their night yet DeSantis cruised home in Florida.

Given how many times I've previously written Trump off only to see him dominating the GQP days or weeks later, is this the one or are we at last getting close to the point where he is actually seen as yesterday's guy? My concern at this point is if the Republicans take the House AND are sufficiently disciplined they'll open up some House inquiries into, I dunno, Hunter Biden or election drop boxes or whatever and that would re-energise Trump considerably.

The big takeaway was that the exit polls showed a lot of voter dissatisfaction with Biden personally even if the voters were picking Democrats.

Here's the thing: young people showed up this go around. Heck, they elected a 25 year old to the US Congress. They're gonna keep showing up, and in the meantime, the GOP base is dying off.

If the GOP is smart, they're going to detach from the Crazy Train, and try something else. But, I don't think that there's a lot of hope for that. The rubes still have cash, and these are folks who used to grazing on their constituents, so it's only going to come about when they consistently lose.

For the party that claims that it's about a sure and steady hand, they have invested a lot into radicals who hate the very concept of governance. Oddly enough, even their 'leaders' don't exactly inspire a lot of confidence. And they're gonna keep 'investing' in them, until they don't have any more money to suckle from.

It really is something watching Dems celebrate victory because they didn't lose as badly as they thought they would.
This was winnable. Red states were passing a minimum wage increase. Progressive policy is popular. Instead ,now they get another excuse to not pass anything (except corporate hand-outs) and the Parliamentarian can go into hibernation.

Young people finally realized they have skin in the game. 18-35 year old voters are by far the voters most likely to face an unplanned pregnancy. This summer, the Supreme Court gave politicians permission to make those voters' most personal medical decisions for them. Even if that voter's pregnancy was the result of that voter being criminally violated. And those voters aren't standing for that.

The kids did good this year. Way better than the hippies who got Nixon re-elected in a landslide.

In the 22 midterm elections from 1934 -2018, the President's party has averaged a loss of 28 House seats and four Senate seats

So Biden beat the historical trend.  That is what most people are talking about, not Michael Moore's prediction or shiatty polls.

I'm happy. More progressives won and the only Senate seat that the Democrats won was a progressive. There is very good movement in recent elections towards the actual left.

Back in 2012, after they were gobsmacked after how Romney had lost big time, they did an internal investigation and the report-- "autopsy" it was called-- made a number of sensible recommendations about how the party has to change to meet the needs of younger, more racially-diverse groups of voters.

Then they pitched the sensible nonsense into the shredder and decided that election-tampering and reaching out to Unibomber shack-dwellers, gun packing morons and the Infowars crowd was the way to go.

For the next election, they'll do focused direct-mail pitches out to schizophrenics in mental wards and San Quentin Aryan gangs while throwing firebombs at local Democratic party offices.

Rich people don't understand regular people's problems.
Dems took a bullet but it could have been a cannonball hence the celebration by moderates. The ceding of the economy to Republicans was idiotic. Instead of advertising how Republicans planned to fix the economy in their own words the Dems just pretended that price gouging wasn't really happening. That cost many votes. Inaction for the last two years on promised policy cost more. Dems didn't need to lose to fascists at all, they chose to.
John Fetterman ran on economic policy and he flipped a seat.

I would have liked to see dems talk more about corporate price gouging to counter the inflation narrative the GOP is pushing.

Right wing propaganda is effective. It has been able to frame Biden they way Trump is in reality. Having paid attention to politics since Reagan it has been scary to watch as Republican conservatism became stronger America became weaker. As republican partisan media became more prevalent spreading misinformation and lies the republican base became more radicalized and is now committing insurrections and maiming/killing people.

Foreign powers now know the easiest way to take down America is to support republicans. The "American First" party is operating as a foreign asset working against American interests. They are helping a man that owes allegiance to a money lender so he can pretend to be rich.

But hey, you have your right wing troll poll to be happy about.

2022-11-10 6:54:54 AM
I think the disconnect is how the right and left view their elected officials, and the right cannot comprehend anyone viewing elected officials any other way than the do. The political right base their politics on cults of personalities rather that policy, while the left does the opposite. After all their assaults on Joe Biden, Hunter accusations, and other character assassinations, their "red wave" failed to happen. Same with Nancy Pelosi. Nobody outside of their bubble sees Joe Biden as the monster the right tries to paint him as, nor do they have a deep seeded hatred of Nancy Pelosi as those in the right wing bubble have.

Trump on the other hand, nobody outside the right wing bubble cares about him, and many cannot stand him. On Tuesday America shown that they reject Trump and Trumpism. If it were not for gerrymandering, the Republicans would not have even been competitive. The people who got overly giddy over Trump and Trumpism were rejected for the most part too.

The article is written by those who cannot understand that the left is not sniffing Biden's jock like they sniff Trumps. Since they do not understand that Biden is just the guy currently pushing the agenda, but is not the agenda; since Trump basically is the right wing agenda. So much it had become the GOP platform last POTUS election. That is what the American people rejected Tuesday night. It was not "Biden v Trump", it was "the American People v Trump".

Matt Gaetz just said that they are going to fight inflation by taking away Medicaid and taking away unemployment thereby forcing people into low wage jobs. He said that would raise wages (with a straight face)
Rick Scott told everyone that Republicans are going to kill Social Security and Medicare and that the poor need new taxes.

Will Democrats run these quotes to death during the Warnock race?  If history is any guide, the answer is no. They sure as heck didn't bother during the mid-terms.

Hey, cut him some slack. They were assured of a Red Wave that would secure this country from a 1000 Years of Darkness. At this point, they have to console themselves that they made some advances, but they're still gonna have to work with Democrats.

"They said it was OUR time!"

/I think that a new strategy will focus on finally turning Manchin, Sinema and Tulsi into declaring as Republicans, as opposed to just having them as agents of chaos.
