Friend of mine got into some NFT "business" last year, tried to rope me into it. Told him he was getting involved in a scam and explained why, he got really pissy and said some friendship-ending things.
I learned that I overestimate people sometimes.

At one point I would have vehemently agreed with you.  I understand it's an artificially constrained commodity.  Now I just accept that trinkets sell for whatever they sell for be they Bitcoins, diamonds, or Rolexes.

Depends muchly on the toy.  Ever try to sell a boat?  Fancy exercise equipment?  If it's a true luxury item, the resale is nonsense until you get up top the absolute top of the line where stuff's fairly unique/low supply

If he did it in the US, Mexico has no jurisdiction, and the US has no similar law for owned art.  You buy it, you can break it.  Good luck prosecuting that.

Not necessarily - I mean they can make the law how they like, and require it for sales agreements.  Now would the U.S. extradite someone for it?  Probably not - but he'd certainly never want to set foot in Mexico - and if any of his business arrangements involve Mexico he'd be screwed
