The Comics Code Authority even refused to publish one Green Lantern story he created with writer Alan Moore, stating his entire art style was objectionable.

WTF do you have to do to get the CCA as ragey as that?  Seriously, the entire art style?  Wut?

/and look at the way this asshole pencils, utter filth!

Aw dammit. Marshall Law was a favorite of mine back in the day. O'Neill's art was so wonderfully violent and tongue-in-cheek, that is was damn near impossible for pre-teen me to put the book down.

Well yes, but I mean I would have accepted that as "What you chose to draw there won't fly" - "Your style is offensive" just makes me think of someone pissed that an artist likes forced perspective, or it's too silver age, or something equally goofy

The CCA was basically there to infantilize and censor comics, a medium that was blooming into some pretty cool adult entertainment at the time of its creation.

This one, Judgement Day, always sticks out because it's from 53. Very racist America, graphic novel about racist robots, black protagonist? I

https://thecensorshipfiles.wordpress.com/volume-1/issue-1/judgment-day/

tldr

"With Judgment Day, the CCA told Gaines and Al Feldstein, the writer of the story, that they could not publish the comic book if the final panel had a black astronaut."

That's all you really need to know about the CCA.

Yes - but see my reply to Darth up above.  I was more scratching my head at the word choices than boggling at the idea they could be petty pricks with their brains stuck in 1955.  That was a given generally

Yes, even before '55 - their brains were still stuck there ;p  It's comics, shiat don't gotta make sense

The Boys before Morrison wrote The Boys.

Also inspired one of my favorite RPGs, Underground. Pure, distilled 90s comics excess & social commentary.

Wow  a huge part of early 2000AD and a great artist especially
Ro-Busters that blossomed into
ABC Warriors. I mean, who didnt love Mek-Quake, the homicidal, petty, thick as two planks Kill Dozer as well as General Blackbood who drinks the oil of dead robots. this made me laugh from wiki....
He is currently a member of the Church of Judas, a religion for robots who have betrayed their masters and pray to Judas to take away the guilt....

RIP Kevin and thanks for your art. It's a huge part of my early life.

LoEG gets a lot of flack, but I enjoyed the series, even the supposed "bad" bits. Moore is a hypocrite, though, for biatching about people doing riffs on his work.

God, this is in the dual package of the weekly FARK "you're, farking old aren't you"? and "I haves a sad".

One of my favorite books were "Marshall Law Takes Manhattan" a send up of the Marvel Universe that had
a side of effect of their powers were psychosis and the trope of the Human Torch erupting into the unquenchable hell of flames and agony if exposed to air.

/I will miss comic guy with "punk" sensibilities and his take on "rapey" Mr.Hyde.
