Too bad Scalia isn't around to tell them that they can't do that because we can't "hold up" the results of a Presidential election. I mean, that was his main argument against forcing Florida to follow their state law regarding recounts. That it would take too long and the country couldn't wait.

I just got back from AZ.  Not given to watching much broadcast tv but catching breakfast all week at the hotel - holy cow are AZ voters inundated with a steady stream of derp.  It's depressing as hell on a lot of levels.

and Sheriff Joe - story I always tell - Maricopa County had to fund, to call it what it was, a "Sheriff Joe's Dipshiat Lawsuit Settlement Fund".  Every year I'd get a mortgage escrow notice from my lender:  "yeah hi, your property taxes are going to be $26.74 short this year, per valuation at Z% per 100,000 assessed value."

I voted for Hobbs and Kelly - Brake Masters is a joke, Kari Lake already walking back her "NO ABORTIONS" stance.  and her, "WHEN I AM GOVERNOR I WILL DECLARE ARIZONA UNDER INVASION AND TELL THE SUPER BOWL TO POUND SAND!  Uh.....no.

she'll be inaugurated like, Jan 5.  There's no way the NFL will let her do that.  "hey, arizona, you're NEVER getting another Super Bowl."  and the various ancillary events! concerts, the hotel / tourism industry, the NFL having to move the entirety of the Super Bowl "show", on 30 days' notice?  Yeah farking right.

This morning the Missus mailed the thousand hand-written "Get Out The Vote" post cards we did as a family into the mailbox.

For the past few weeks we'd take an evening and sit down as a family and get through a list of 50 each urging people to get out and vote and for them to remind friends and family to do the same.

It seems like a bit of a grudge match of a task but every night I'd find some historical podcast or something to entertain us.  Last night I played Wednesday's Chris Hayes where he talked about what was going on specifically in Arizona.  It did a lot to drive home the point of what we were doing and why.

It infuriates me, someone who grew up in the 80's when the tactics of intimidating others at polls we thought ended, we're right back into this.

Here's hoping one of those hooded "Patriot Cosplayers" only shoots themselves or one of their other "freedom-loving" co-conspirators.

It might simply be too late to put this deranged genie back in the bottle, but the leaders who created that genie must be held to account. Voters have the power to do so by refusing to elect them to office. Rewarding them for their lies will send Arizona down a dark, undemocratic path, and the few brave leaders whom I met will not be able to stop this trajectory.


I'm sort of under the impression that this is exactly what the MAGA-morons want...

I've told this story a million times over the past 3-4 months, what's one more?

Circa 2015 or so, a long farking time ago, wife and I went to this very upscale central Phoenix shopping mall.  Just to see how the other half lives.  Kari Lake, at the time, was "just" the Fox 10 local prime time newscaster.  we were in some little tiny store, and I kept running into her.  She'd give me this dopey 100w smile.  I'd kinda nod and smile.  2-3 minutes later, same thing.  I'd smile and nod.

wife and leave, and she goes, "um....that was Kari Lake, right?"  "yup."

"Was she giving you a kind of......way over the top smile, like she's waiting for you to say, 'hey, aren't you Kari Lake?'  and then she says yes and says, 'would you like a selfie?  WITH KARI LAKE!?!?!?"'

"YES.  she kept pulling that shiat with me too!  Damn, Kari, I know it's you, farkstain, I just don't farking care."

Our ballots went for Kelly and Hobbs last week. Lake aiding and abetting the imbeciles in our legislature would be an absolute nightmare. Good lord.

Got my mail-in ballot from Maricopa county this week. Gonna sing blue silver up and down the thing and mail it Monday.

Not holding my breath Katie Hobbs will defeat Kari Lake and election denier lunacy is running wilder in this state than peak Hulkamania but we have to go down voting.

Yeah, fark that. I live in Maricopa County and I, and the rest of my family ALL voted straght D all the way down.
And everyone in my immediate family has all mailed in their ballots,l and every one of us has recieved an email stating our ballots were counted.
